Overview
This position is responsible for the direct field supervision of construction and maintenance crews during the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution lines and facilities. The primary geographic area of responsibility is defined by the working boundaries of the operations center.
Responsibilities
Analyzes assigned construction project and determines the daily labor and equipment requirements and construction objectives. Conducts daily meetings with Construction Foremen to outline the daily work schedule and construction objectives; instructs each foreman in the appropriate construction methods to be used. Supervises crew during the construction of overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution lines and facilities; sees that all work is consistent with Company standards. Coordinates construction projects with the planning section as well as other utilities and affected customers, organizations and governmental agencies. Supervises the construction of overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution projects assigned to construction contractors and verifies satisfactory completion. Determines hot line procedures and techniques to be used on specific projects and communicates this information to the lead line technician. Implements safety programs; sees that all safety regulations and rules are followed; conducts safety meetings. Supervises on-the-job training of employees. Maintains employee records (e.g., off-duty, attendance, overtime, progressive disciplinary action, etc.) and answers first step grievances. Evaluates employee’s job performance and progress, reviews evaluation with employees and recommends promotions or disciplinary action. Supervises the emergency repair of storm damaged transmission and distribution lines and facilities. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE-
An Associate’s Degree in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of Electric Distribution Operations line construction and maintenance experience; or a high school diploma and minimum of 7 years of progressive Electric Distribution Operations line construction and maintenance experience is required.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS-
Broad knowledge of ESD Department design, construction and maintenance procedures and above-average interpersonal relations skills. Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical principles associated with the construction, maintenance and operation of ESD systems.
WORK CONDITIONS-
Exposure to weather conditions such as extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, high winds and rains, dust, dirt and loud noises. Exposure to high voltage areas and stressful situations.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS-
Continuous standing, walking or operating in work controlled environment.

In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
