Team Leader - Purchasing

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a strategic and results-driven Purchasing Team Leader to join the team in Mölndal, Gothenburg. In this role, you’ll lead and mentor a team of Buyers while staying operationally involved in driving excellence, ensuring compliance, and implementing continuous improvements in purchasing processes to meet both customer and business objectives.

This full-time, permanent position is based at our customer’s site in Mölndal, Gothenburg. The Team   

You’ll lead a close-knit Purchasing Team of 9 associates, including Buyers and Sources. The team is responsible for all purchasing activities, ensuring scientists have the materials they need to advance research.

You’ll be part of a supportive and experienced leadership team within a diverse, open-minded environment that values positive challenges and collaboration. You’ll belong to the Lab and Production Services department, supporting major pharmaceutical companies globally within the Research and Development sector of the Life Sciences industry.

What we’re looking for 

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is not essential (although it’s a plus if you have one in a relevant field), but at least a High School Diploma is required.Experience: At least 2 years of leadership experienceBackground in purchasing and customer service, preferably in a clinical, regulated Pharma environmentStrong understanding of purchasing processes, including buying chemicals, consumables, and hazardous materialsExceptional communication skills, with the ability to present material at all levels, both verbally and in writing (including presentations)Practical knowledge and experience with Lean Sigma processesProficiency in data capture, analysis, and reporting using various IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel and COUPA

Lead and mentor the Purchasing Team, motivating and developing them to achieve high performanceAccomplish HR objectives by recruiting, training, coaching, and communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and enforcing policies/proceduresCollaborate with a wide range of contacts, including customers, suppliers, and colleagues both on-site and off-sitePerform purchasing activities, such as placing purchase orders and updating the online system (COUPA), in the absence of team members.Manage data, including capturing, analysing, and reporting to ensure accurate and timely decision-making
