Team Leader Software Engineering
Overview We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Software Engineering in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of a Software Engineering team that is responsible for software development for a product or family of products. Essential Functions Lead a team of Software Engineers with diverse capability levels in the design of new features and the enhancement of existing backend architecture Coordinate and participate in generating software requirements and designs for fitness features. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement Partner with engineering and product leadership to set strategy and priorities for teams and projects Ensure the team meets development goals, quality standards, and project milestones Manage resources effectively by focusing on appropriate workload distribution and efficient use of team's capabilities Support career development by identifying growth opportunities, providing coaching, and helping to set goals for team members Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR a minimum of 10 years relevant experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience with high-level programming languages and industry standards Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment Previous leadership or mentorship experience Desired Qualifications Detailed knowledge and experience with Java and microservices Experience with scalable backend architectures Previous engineering leadership experience Interest and experience with sports such as running and cycling Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
