Moreover, they should be constantly thinking about the bigger picture: How the digital world shapes both society and individual lives.The ideal candidate will be a devoted, highly organized editor with at least 8 years of prior writing/editing experience at a digital media brand. They should be passionate about consumer tech and service journalism and will help establish Mashable as a resource and companion for audiences, helping them make informed shopping decisions.
Tech is a pillar of our editorial coverage, so this role requires the ability to collaborate with leadership across all parts of the organization, including our SEO, social and video teams. This person must operate with flexibility and consideration to achieve goals established in collaboration with leadership. This role will be key to this operation, focused on driving a winning content strategy that translates into high audience and clickthrough. The ideal candidate is adept at the use of data to inform strategy while staying flexible enough to pivot the plan as needed.

The Day to Day job responsibilities:Determine the daily coverage priorities and long-term strategy for Mashable's Tech verticalAssign and edit stories from writers across different time zonesManage and communicate thoughtfully with a team of writers and editorsPlan and execute a comprehensive content calendar including series, theme weeks, product launches and tech events, utilities, evergreen pieces, product reviews, roundups and comparisons, affiliate strategy, and more Encourage writers to pursue scoops, exclusives, and ambitious storytelling Work closely with our digital culture and other service journalism writers to ensure our coverage focuses on the intersection of technology and digital culture Track metrics to inform strategyNaturally skeptical about the role technology plays in our lives.
Qualifications:
At least 8 years of relevant experience writing and editing at a publication or in a digital media environment.At minimum 5 years experience covering technology; space and science experience is a bonusExperience with Google Analytics, Chartbeat, or other metric toolsAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced environmentThoughtful communication skills A critical eye for strong editingDetail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing sensitive topic areasA self-starter as well as a team player (a sense of humor is a must!)Deep knowledge of the digital space and Mashable's core coverage areas
Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000 to $135,000, 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
