Tech III, Pyro Show Operator – Nighttime Shows (Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure)
JOB SUMMARY: Provides the discipline specific technical skills needed to support the daily operation of the assigned entertainment venue and/or event, including the handling and operation of high-risk pyro and pyrotechnic systems. Ensures technical show quality and a positive guest experience by applying intermediate level knowledge of pyro elements. Ensure proper completion of tasks and all UO and NFPA policies, procedures and regulations are followed. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Responsible for the daily operation of the pyrotechnic elements within the assigned entertainment venue and/or event. This includes the handling of explosive material and acting as a fire watch. + Responsible for the careful loading of pyrotechnics to preserve show quality. Maintaining the proper load layout as directed by venue training and show direction. + Responsible for completing pyro load and post-show cleanup, resets. Ensure that all pyro waste is disposed of properly and document any issues with pyro product. + Assist with the appropriate maintenance and inventory of venue equipment/supplies as assigned for proper operation, organization, and cleanliness. Notify appropriate leadership of any materials needed and any repairs needed beyond basic maintenance of the venue/show. + Troubleshoot and identify technical issues and when to escalate to the appropriate maintenance team and Management. + Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities. + Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: + Technical school is preferred. + Associate degree (AA) or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. EXPERIENCE: + 2-3 years’ experience using technical control systems, likely within the theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. + Intermediate knowledge in technical disciplines needed to operate assigned venue. + Basic computer skills with basic experience in Microsoft Office suite + Or equivalent combination of education and experience CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: + Valid FL Driver’s License required ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: + Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment. + As directed, may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials.
