Responsibilities Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Health Mental Health Technician-Full Time Pay starts at $17.30 per hour Job Summary The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is responsible for quality patient care on the inpatient unit. The MHT assures the safety of patients. Some of the duties of the MHT include: patient admission process, health screenings and orientation of patients to the inpatient unit, assist with discharges, crisis intervention, group facilitation, conducting the every 15 minute safety checks, charting on patient interactions and behaviors, and the monitoring of all patients.MHT's also assist with ADL's. Qualifications Job Requirements Education: High school diploma or GED. Proven STNA or Medical Assisting certification is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment facility. Work Environment: Work indoors, long periods of standing on feet, continuously working near people, but usually a few feet of space separated from patients and co-workers, often exposed to distracting noises This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and discretion are essential. This individual must have the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Professional demeanor and appearance required. What do MHT's do on a daily basis? Job Duties Complies with the established policy and procedure requiring a safe, clean and therapeutic environment. Recognizes and respond to priorities in patient care responsibilities. Participates in admission process by orienting patient and family members to the milieu. Assist patients through the discharge process. Re-enforces the importance of medication compliance. Effectively leads and facilitates groups with clients in a therapeutic treatment setting, delivering psycho-educational content based on the stages of change. Understands and utilizes group process techniques.
