COMSOL is seeking an engineer to join its sales team in Los Angeles, CA. As part of our team, you will use both your technical and interpersonal skills to help our customers understand how the COMSOL product line can address their needs. This position calls for a unique combination of engineering, business, sales and communication skills. We sell to many of the top engineering and scientific teams throughout the US, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies to national labs to academic research teams, and their activities cover a wide span of engineering disciplines. A successful candidate will be able to quickly understand complex interdisciplinary technical issues and then, just as quickly, articulate a concise business case for how COMSOL can help the potential customer.
This is a small-office environment in a rapidly growing, diverse company. As such, you will be entrusted with a broad range of responsibilities, allowing for personal and professional growth – both in sales and in engineering. Primary responsibilities Drive sales from initial contact to close via phone, web meetings. Increase and develop new accounts in an assigned territory, industry, or engineering discipline. Manage and grow existing accounts through account strategy, resource allocation, and customer service. Engage regularly with customers and prospects to understand their business needs and identify key influencers and decision makers. Understand and articulate the value of simulation software, especially the advantages of multiphysics simulation *Present COMSOL’s capabilities and its use at public seminars, web meetings, customer-site presentations and professional conferences. Effectively collaborate with other team members, particularly in the engineering, marketing, licensing, and legal groups. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences or closely related field with no experience (degree in Electrical Engineering preferable); or Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with three (3) years of work experience working in technical sales roles or providing technical professional services. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability and willingness to travel domestically for limited times in order to run or assist in running COMSOL-sponsored events and activities (<10%). Current eligibility to work in the U.S. No sponsorship for employment-based visas will be offered for this position. This is an in-office position. Preferred Qualifications Prior technical sales experience or customer service experience, or Prior academic research or industrial experience in a technical role, preferably with a focus on physics-based modeling and simulation (M&S) projects.
