Technical Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities + Closely liaison with segment and business unit teams to provide oversight and proactive support on technical accounting matters, including researching the appropriate accounting guidance and documenting (or reviewing) conclusions + Implement and prepare (or review) more standardized segment-level financial statement and reserve analysis to identify and understand any unusual trends and ensure the appropriate application of US GAAP. + Lead quarterly meetings with Segment CFOs and Controllers to understand trends in the business, identify and determine the related accounting implications of new transactions or changes in the business and reinforce and ensure compliance with Company accounting policies + Participate in segment and business unit balance sheet reviews + Provide proactive support for any new business acquisitions or divestitures, including performing opening balance sheet reviews and coordinating with 3rd party specialists on valuation procedures + Establish quarterly “roundtable” meetings with Segment Finance teams and other functional teams in Finance (e.g., Treasury, Tax and Internal Audit) to communicate deliverable timelines, policy, personnel and systems updates, key cross-functional initiatives, etc. + Support implementation of new accounting guidance, policies, etc. + Coordinate with and support external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit + Prepare deliverables for Sr. Leadership and Audit Committee, as needed + Minimal travel required (less than 15%) Requirements PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS + Bachelors degree in Accounting + Masters degree in Accounting or MBA strongly preferred + CPA is strongly preferred + 7 – 10 years of progressive accounting experience + Large public accounting and/or large US public company experience strongly preferred + Strong understanding and experience in practically applying US GAAP, including in areas such as revenue recognition, inventory, CECL, impairment analysis, purchase accounting, restructuring and leases + Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to quickly establish a personal brand within the organization to drive cross functional collaboration and influence resources outside one’s direct responsibility. + Ability to lead through influence + Curious mindset and desire to work directly with segment and business unit management to pragmatically resolve issues and questions + Engaging approach that builds rapport and cohesiveness within the team + Insightful ability to identify trends and themes for continuous improvement across the function + Ability to overcome obstacles and achieve objectives, changing direction along the way to achieve business objectives + Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment with frequent ad hoc requests and changing priorities. + Manufacturing experience is a plus + Experience with Oracle ERP system, Hyperion, OneStream, a plus + Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
