Complete Description:
The Deputy Sheriff Information System (DSIS) is a web-based application system used to maintain training and certification records for Deputy Sheriffs in all counties of the Commonwealth of PA. The application is also used to present and manage training class information and student achievement (i.e. class grades). Reporting components of the application include templates for standard correspondence, creation of certificates/diplomas, identification cards and financial vouchers. In addition to PCCD staff, the application is used by county sheriff's office personnel and contracted training providers.
The existing application was built with Classic ASP and currently uses a SQL Server 2005 database. The application utilizes COM+ components and includes interfaces to the Commonwealth's Justice Network (JNET).
The Technical Architect Specialist will be responsible for Phase 1 of the DSIS re-design effort. Specifically, the resource will work with the application stakeholders to review and understand the existing system, assess and compile the details applicable to proposed modifications and enhancements, and then correlate that information into a Requirements Analysis Document for the new version of DSIS, which is to be built using a .NET Framework and SQL Server 20xx. The resource will not be analyzing the existing code, specifically, but must be knowledgeable with Classic ASP, .NET Framework and SQL Server 20xx.
