Our client in Culver City, California is currently looking to hire a Technical Business Intelligence Application Lead for a contract to permanent opportunity.
Responsibilities include:
Interacting with Business Users/ Product Owners to understand their BI needs and identify the data sources / data completeness to meet the BI needsImplement the BI and data warehouse requirements through the use of ETL, business intelligence tools, and database programming and reporting toolsMigration of current BI/Reporting Solutions to newer BI PlatformWork closely with the business and IT teams in design discussions, reviews and test cyclesWork closely with the business and IT teams to determine steps to produce reports in an agile methodologyIdentify effective reporting techniques, identify the best data sources for reach report, identify risks and constraints, and design reporting formatsEnsure teams deliver optimized database and ETL design to achieve acceptable performance and utilize the database and ETL resources effectivelyFull life-cycle awareness of data warehouse, ETL, and business intelligence solutionsData analyst skills to determine root cause problems for data integrity and data quality issues identified through QA or by business report ownersProvide guidance and recommendations on BI reporting techniques considering the transaction reporting, management reporting and analytical reportingReview current universe/reporting design and propose changes for better performanceProvides delivery estimates for project planning purposes.Provide inputs into tuning of User Written reports or ETL jobsKey outputs include:
Provide the right BI Solution in line with the Business needs and with Industry BI Best PracticesDocument the BI processes involved in implementing a BI Solution end to endDocument Report Designs/Mock-UpsDocument Departmental Best PracticesContribution of documentation to IT knowledge databaseCore Responsibilities:
25% - Understands the business requirements and translates them into Epics/Stories. Propose the solutions to meet these needs. Review the designs and ensure they follow the agreed and established standards25% - Implements and supports BI projects. Troubleshoot BI tool problems and tune for performance. Adapts BI processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements. Support client areas in their analytical functions.20% - Data profiling, understanding of conceptual and logic models, participates in design of physical models20% - Sets design specifications for end-user semantic layers and multi-dimensional models across BI environments. Migration of current Reporting solutions to newer BI Platform as required.10% - Mentoring the team on the BI Standards, Technology and latest BI trends and initiatives happening in the organizationQualifications:
7+ of years of IT work experience and 5+ years in the similar role of BI App Lead.ITIL v3 certifiedBusiness Intelligence tool architecture, features and functionalityData Warehouse database platforms – Any MPP Architecture is a must .Teradata is a must and any experience with cloud, NOSQL, Hadoop is an added advantageExperience with Business Objects/Tableau required. Knowledge of other tools such as Alteryx a plus.Knowledge and experience of at least one data profiling toolFamiliar with ETL tools especially hands on experience with DataStageRelational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 UDB and SybaseStrong with data modeling concepts (star schemas, snowflake schemas, highly normalized data models), and familiarity with data modeling tools is an added advantageFamiliar with physical database administration concepts such as table partitioning, materialized views, indexing strategies, aggregate navigation and their role within the decision support environmentFamiliar with OLAP and multi-dimensional database technologies such as Hyperion Essbase or SQL Server Analysis ServicesFamiliar with hardware concepts such as SMP and MPP architectures and their impact on the BI environmentFamiliar with source control tools such as GitHub a plusExcellent at performance tuning BI processes and queries (concepts such as caching, sorting, and indexing)At least 2 years working in an agile environment for BIExcellent relational database knowledgeExcellent problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills with both business and technical customersDemonstrate a high level of integrity and maturityWork on multiple projects and deliver consistently on timeEscalate issues appropriately to management and project teamTake a proactive approach to cross-functional communicationActively seek out feedback from management and peers, to improve own performance based on that feedback.
