The Technical Buyer in this role plans and conducts the purchasing of raw materials, tooling, MRO materials while maintaining the raw material inventory required to support demand. Works in conjunction with other teams to provide outstanding value and commitment to the organization in the most cost-effective manner within quality standards.
Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.Responsible for sourcing non-commodity and global materials.Purchases raw materials and components for finished products using approved material requirements planning system and maintains accurate system information such as open purchase quantities, delivery dates, lead times, inventory levels, etc.Constantly evaluates and monitors risk within the supply chain.Responsible for facilitating purchase of MRO and equipment per specification.Responsible for reducing the total cost of obtaining materials. Documents cost saving opportunities in support of departmental goals.Facilitates identification and evaluation of potential suppliers including reviewing bid proposals from vendors and entering into contracts within budgeting limitations. Manages ongoing relationship with vendors including ensuring conformance to regulatory requirements, CGMP, and quality requirements.Serves in an advising capacity to assist other departments in obtaining proper specifications, quotations, delivery terms and costs.Monitors requisitions of materials from stores to assure that parts are available when required.Participates in non-conforming material investigations and dispositioning, facilitating corrective action with vendors including returns to and appropriate credits.Works with technical group to begin sourcing for new products by obtaining new information or samples. Supports the quote process for new business and communicates raw material specifications provided by Manufacturing Engineering to suppliers; serves as liaison to these groups.Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Business, or related concentrationLEAN training or experience preferred.2-4 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong oral and written communication skills, excellent problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills, and ability to work in a team environmentEffective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and interact with all levels in the organizationIndustrial/Manufacturing Experience preferredProficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and other related Microsoft products.Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Strong negotiating skills with knowledge of purchasing commodities.
