Technical Designer - Retail

Your Role

As a Gensler Technical Designer in the Sciences Practice Area, it will be your job to work in a team of architects and designers to deliver the project. Leveraging your experience with life science projects and your technical acumen to drive client projects from concept design through the built project. 

What You Will Do

Ensure conformance with State and Local regulatory standards relating to laboratory or production spaces

Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and all authorities having jurisdiction

Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges

Maintain project manual and specifications

Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction


Your Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture

0-2 years of experience in a commercial design firm; laboratory or science focused project experience preferred

Experience with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3dMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office

Working knowledge of Lab Code Requirements, Lab Casework, Lab Planning Guidelines, and standard practices, building codes, standards, building construction, and building structure

LEED accreditation preferred
