Technical Development Coordinator

*Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Anchorage, Alaska 

  GCI's Technical Development Coordinator will serve as the Technical Development support team for training events and certification requirements for applicable divisions/groups across the Operations department. Coordinate and assist with Technical Development projects, programs, and special events and assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:

Complete projects and special assignments accurately and on-time.  Track and maintain inventory, certifications, and other required information. Collaborate with stakeholders on objectives, project design, and planning. COMPETENCIES: ACCOUNTABILITY- Takes ownership for actions, decisions, and results; openly accepts feedback and demonstrates a willingness to improve. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in situations where there is no opportunity or time to seek supervisory assistance or conduct significant analysis of the options. BASIC PRINCIPLES - Interacts with people in a way that builds mutual trust, confidence, and respect; adheres to GCI’s Code of Conduct for Employees – the Basic Principles. Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel, Word, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY - Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to complete job duties effectively, such as using the company intranet and to accurately retrieve and input information into database or equivalent.

Additional Job Requirements:

This is an intermediate level position within the discipline demonstrating proficiency in areas of responsibility. Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments. Work is moderately supervised and is reviewed for timeliness, accuracy, and following correct procedures.

Essential Duties:

  Track information for projects, statistics, and general information purposes.  Track and maintain spreadsheet & training database of field personnel.  Schedule and coordinate meeting requests and travel arrangements.  Assist with planning events for department and company.  Maintain inventory of training equipment and training records and ensure supplies and materials are proactively restocked.  Assist with presentations and compile and prepare data for various reports. Distribute to appropriate parties as needed.  Assist with the creation of PowerPoints, Microsoft Forms, and Smartsheet Forms.    Complete projects and special assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities, managing time, gaining the cooperation of others, monitoring progress, problem-solving, and adjusting plans.  Work closely with stakeholders to create comprehensive action plans concerning resources and budgets. Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements if necessary.  Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives. Create tracking reports for fast-paced projects. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in business office and customer services or related military experience. * Including at least one (1) year in a telecommunications related field. 

Preferred: 

Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Telecommunications experience.   Relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.

Position Title: Senior Technical Development Coordinator

Grade: A10

Additional Job Requirements:

This is a senior level position within the discipline demonstrating proficiency in all areas of responsibility. Performs complex tasks and job duties, receiving minimal instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignments. Works under minimal supervision with latitude for independent judgment.

Essential Duties:

  Act as information hub for all Operations training, including tracking, scheduling, travel, reminders, GCI Events creation, and room booking. Assign training to ensure operations teams maintain their required certifications.   Track certifications and ensure they are displayed correctly on the team dashboard.  Track certified instructor’s dates, topics of certification, and the training hours they deliver including OJT and in classroom or lab. Track information for special projects including statistics, expenses, and procurement.  Coordinate with teams that dashboard team information to ensure statistics are represented correctly.  Assist with planning events for department and company.  Maintain inventory and tracking records to ensure supplies, equipment, gear, and materials are proactively assigned to employees and restocked.  Assist with presentations and compile and prepare data for various reports. Distribute to appropriate parties as needed.  Assist with the creation of PowerPoints, Microsoft Forms, and Smartsheet Forms.    Complete projects and special assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities, managing time, gaining the cooperation of others, monitoring progress, problem-solving, and adjusting plans.  Work closely with stakeholders to create comprehensive action plans concerning resources and budgets.  Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements if necessary.  Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives. Provide classroom support for instructors, facilitating presentations, and tracking progress of students.   Deliver instruction on administrative software such as Outlook, Teams, iProcurement, SharePoint navigation, Fusion One, Oracle, etc, to trainees in Foundations courses. Assist SME’s in the development of training materials providing layout, PPT slides, and other handouts.

Additional Competencies:

Demonstrated proficiency in:  Systems including iProcurment and Viavi Stratasync. Development and editing of SharePoint sites, Power BI, and SmartSheets.  Public speaking and basic training of peers and colleagues. Accurate and professional writing and communication skills.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: 

This position requires access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:   Regular on-site attendance required at GCI facilities within the Anchorage area, with occasional travel required to locations across the state of Alaska. Travel to remote or rural locations may include traveling in small aircraft. Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage. Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment. Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively. Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively. Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.  Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.  Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers. Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.
