Core Technology Solution (CTS) Bank, Billing, Move Money (BBMM) is responsible for Charles Schwab’s Core Banking ecosystem supporting Trusts, Deposits, Payment Instruments, and specialized Lending/Mortgage offerings for high-net-worth clients. This opportunity will present major influence over Bank Technology Strategy including Core Banking Platform Modernization, enabling new banking product offerings, and broad technical direction across Banking and Move Money capabilities and the underlying systems! 

 

We are looking for a talented Director Architect Principal to drive a holistic long term architecture enabling Schwab Bank’s 5-year roadmap. This opportunity will leverage your passion and experience in the Banking industry and technology considerations.  You will streamline and revamp complex upstream and downstream interdependencies. Your solutions will need to scale horizontally and demonstrate pragmatic thinking around non-functional requirements, including auditability, data security, and real time streams / replication to hydrate Systems of Reference. Solutions will span CRM (Customer Relationship Management), Origination, Servicing, and operational considerations.

What you have

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field10+ years of progressive software development & engineering experience with 5+ years acting as a Solution or Principal Architect8+ years of experience in Banking Industry required.5+ years of experience with Payment Networks and Rails, Move Money, Fed Clearing (ACH and Checks), Payment Card Issuance and transaction processing, and Real-Time Payments (RTP)5+ years of core deposits and/or lending platforms. Proven track record working with various financial messaging formats (ISO-20022, ISO-8583).5+ years managing the integration of an organization’s technology strategy with business architecture, processes, and goals to develop an effective enterprise architecture5+ years of experience applying well-known patterns to application and service architecture; active-active database deployments, circuit breaker, strangler, etc. 5+ years of Integration pattern experience with SaaS vendors, Core Banking systems, Enterprise systems, and fidelity of authoritative System of Records. 5+ years of experience implementing concepts for system design, ensuring compatibility with cloud architectures, and utilizing adaptive approaches for lifecycle models and methodologies3+ years of experience in cloud native design including event-driven applications, state management, configuration and deployment strategies, security and performance tuning of batch streams and APIs  

Preferred Qualifications 

Master's degree in computer science or related fieldFluent with banking business architecture; small business banking a plusCertified on various cloud provider platforms such as AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional or Azure Solutions ArchitectStrong understanding of detective and preventative run controls for processing of live money transactionsExperience designing mission critical, 24x7 systems with resiliency across regions / zones
