Technical Editor, AWS Security Messaging
The AWS Security Messaging team is seeking a high-judgment, high-performing individual with an eye for detail, a knack for spotting errors, and a desire to improve messaging and communication systems. A successful candidate will have experience editing work for grammar, punctuation, accuracy, and will understand it’s part of your job to explain your editing decisions. You know why hyphenating a word that ends in “ly,” is almost never correct; you know how to let a writer maintain their voice and only make corrections that are necessary for clarity or accuracy.

As a Technical Editor with the Security Messaging team, you will edit and write concise, engaging public facing communications under tight deadlines. In this role, you will foster a continuous feedback loop to improve our messaging in all formats and tools, and participate in content management efforts, process development, and quality governance in support of team success, while working independently on multiple projects.

Key job responsibilities
* Edit and proofread copy to be consumed by the end-point customer
* Exercise quality control to ensure the highest standards of style and writing (grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, brand alignment, etc.)
* Track and follow the AWS Style Guide and service names standards.
* Use and track appropriate reference materials for Amazon and AWS, including the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
* Maintain and enforce high standards for the team’s work output
* Solve problems and work in ambiguous environments

About the team
The Security Messaging team is responsible for helping customers stay secure through timely and transparent messaging about security issues. The Tech Editor owns the communication strategy and lifecycle, drives process improvement, and bolsters the maturity of the program. A successful candidate considers business and brand risk, efficiently produces quality deliverables, proactively removes roadblocks, and gracefully handles competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Amazon Security values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.
