Plan, implement, control, and maintain the technical and engineering aspects of the ventilation system in underground mine areas by in-depth analysis and concepts, to support the operations of the underground mine, and mentor counterparts to enhance and boost the transfer of technology, skills and knowledge in these tasks and duties.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Observe the implementation of safety and environmental standards and procedures within work area to minimize accident and damages to equipment.
2. Develop, coach, and motivate counterparts through on-the-job training (such as Pressure Quality Surveys) and other forms of training to enhance skill, knowledge, and capability of the counterparts.
3. Provide engineering initiatives and applications for underground fans, ventilation controls (doors and regulators). This includes costs calculation, spare parts management, design, installation, maintenance, as well as QC/QA, in collaboration with leadership, other departments, vendors, electricians and mechanics, to support the operations of ventilation system in the Underground Department.
4. Provide engineering initiatives and applications as chair and co-chair of dust quality committee, including Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) and dust reduction strategies. The efforts consist of design, planning, procurement, collaboration with other departments and field execution. This also includes QC/QA.
5. Develop medium and long-term plans that cover the scientific calculations for ventilation shafts, drifts, number of fans, doors, and other related necessities by analyzing the ever-developing underground mine, to provide ventilation engineering for the mine.
6. Develop and calibrate mine ventilation models using dedicated software such as the Ventsim. Apply these models to determine fan duties and size ventilation control devices to match the airflow requirements. Compare the simulator results against the field data, to ensure reliable predictions.
7. Coordinate with Biding section of Finance and Accounting Department on the purchase of new equipment such as fans, regulators, etc., by providing the necessary information and ensure that the purchase is made in a most efficient and effective manner.
8. Prepare Authorization of Expenditures (AFEs) for new capital projects with appropriate justifications, forecasting, cost control and ensure that these are written to PTFI standards and follow up till this is approved.
9. Perform necessary administrative tasks related to capital projects including quality control on construction jobs, "punch lists" and commissioning documents, and prepare reports for superiors to review.
