The sPHEV/xEV OBD Calibration Technical Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering (VPSE) team, spearheading the development of technology solutions that fulfill OBD regulatory requirements for all electrified vehicle products, including sPHEV, PHEV, FHEV, and BEV. This position is critical in coordinating all xEV On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) and certification requirements, ensuring that Ford's xEV controls, calibrations and hardware are compliant as a system. They will collaborate cross-functionally to support the design of control system architectures, ensuring that OBD considerations are seamlessly integrated into upfront designs. Additionally, the specialist will ensure robust delivery of monitors throughout the entirety of the development process as well as lead process improvements, reduce calibration development errors and lead quality improvements. 

You'll have...

B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or other B.S. in Engineering with adequate PT experience. 3+ years experience of xEV systems development. In-depth understanding of powertrain controls, emissions components, and test methods. Experience with calibration development tools. Working Knowledge of CARB OBDII, EU OBD, and China OBD regulations. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to manage multiple issues on multiple programs effectively and efficiently. Outstanding leadership skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results. Ability to lead and mentor engineers and co-workers. Must be able to take complex issues and simplify to pass/fail requirements. Willingness to Travel.

In this position...

The sPHEV/xEV OBD Calibration Technical Specialist will have a major responsibility across VPSE for leading the technology solutions to meet regulatory requirements for all xEV products (sPHEV, PHEV, FHEV, BEV). Coordinate sPHEV/xEV OBD and certification requirements (SESE) and lead efforts to guarantee Ford xEV Controls (ECM, HPCM, etc.) software contains all necessary capabilities. Co-Lead with Software/HW teams the implementation of new monitors and new technologies.

 

What you'll do...

Lead broad sPHEV/xEV OBD calibration team through data-driven signoff and validation, meeting measures of success. Lead sPHEV/xEV OBD calibration Technical Maturity Model (TMM), training efforts and support coaching/training of xEV OBD. Lead creation of sPHEV/xEV APR rules to proactively reduce errors and respond to Global Prevent Recurrence actions. Support resolution of emerging QSF and other OPD issues related to sPHEV/xEV OBD and ensure readacross and improvement actions across all xEV programs. Lead process improvement actions specific to xEV OBD to reduce calibration development error states and improve efficiency. Including, but not limited to, scripts, GTDM, tools, HIL, etc. Work cross functionally to support upfront control system architecture designs to ensure OBD consideration are integrated.
