The Technical Lead, Molecular Design AI will lead a team of Machine Learning Scientists, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers, for building and deploying of (gen)AI models to drive molecular design innovation across Danaher OpCos. This role will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and business leaders at operating companies, developing proof of concepts and scaling up innovation ideas in novel molecular design. This position is part of the Danaher CDAIO office, reporting to the VP of AI Strategy and Operations, and located remotely.
In this role, you will have the opportunity for:
+ Technical Leadership and Collaboration: Lead the technical design, architecture, and algorithm choices for in-silico design of proteins and other molecules. Working with peers in other groups, or at Operating Companies, to contribute to building the larger Danaher AI infrastructure, including AI models, ML operations, data storage and transformations, etc.
+ AI Solution Development and Business Collaboration: Identify, evaluate, select, connect and deploy (gen)AI suites and tools (e.g. Alphafold, Protein LLMs, etc) that can support the prioritized innovation pipeline, e.g., protein and binder design, mRNA optimization, antibody optimization, etc. at various operating companies or across the enterprise. Guide the build vs buy vs partner decision making for finding the right solution for a problem area. Collaborate with subject matter experts at operating companies (or external parties) to understand business needs/strategic rationale then conceptualize/prioritize AI solutions that deliver measurable impacts while managing costs and risks.
+ Wetlab integration: Working with experts in lab automation and lab management, design data integration and requirements. Oversee data acquisition, preprocessing, and exploration to ensure the availability of high-quality fit-for-AI purpose data, and closing the insilico-wet lab feedback loop while maintaining data security, and compliance.
+ Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Learning: Document models, workflows, and research findings. sharing knowledge with product and engineering teams at operating companies to ensure the seamless integration of AI solutions into production. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, providing guidance and support to team members, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
+ Mentorship and Development: Provide leadership and guidance to Data Scientists within the team, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their technical skills and expertise and have real-world impact. The solutions built by this team not only impact Danaher’s business, but also the users of our reagents and ultimately the patients who benefit from faster time-to-market of relevant drugs, higher specificity, and other advances in resulting from AI-driven molecular design.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ PhD in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Applied Math, or a similar quantitative discipline.
+ 10+ years of industry experience in data science, AI, Bioinformatics, or a related technical field.
+ Hands-on experience with protein structure prediction models, protein large language models, AI foundation models in biological applications, computational chemistry, and similar areas.
+ Proven experience in prototyping, building, and deploying AI systems.
+ Experience managing technical teams, ideally in scientific areas with cross-disciplinary team members.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Experience working in matrixed environments with solid-line reporting and dotted-line steering and influencing.
+ Working within the life sciences, diagnostics, or biotechnology industries.
+ Familiarity with Danaher operating companies and their focus areas.
+ Strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences and journals.

The salary range for this role is $230,000-$257,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
