Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a Technical Lead for a Data Science Application to oversee the technical design, development, and deployment of secure and maintainable capabilities on AWS cloud infrastructure. This role is integral in leading a development team and driving the technical product vision for mission-critical operations. The Technical Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data sources, manage infrastructure, and deliver tailored analytics. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and communication skills are essential.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of data science applications across AWS cloud infrastructureManage a team of 5-8 developers, guiding their day-to-day technical assignmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, solution architects, and DevSecOps engineers, to ensure high availability, performance, and system resiliencyDevelop technical architecture and translate business needs into governance artifacts and product backlog itemsOversee the implementation, tuning, and troubleshooting of AWS services, networks, OS, and PKIDesign and implement containerization resources using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like TerraformCreate and maintain automated system management and monitoring capabilities for resiliency and self-healingConduct code, configuration, and architecture reviews to ensure adherence to best practicesPartner with government product owners and data science teams to strategize system design and implementationWork with AI/ML models and analytics, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into cloud productsRequirements
A Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of experience, or Associate’s degree + 6 years of experience, or Master’s degree + 2 years of experience, or 8 years of practical experience is requiredExperience leading application development on AWS platforms, from MVP to production deploymentExpertise in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure ARM TemplatesExperience with secure government networks (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, A-LAN, C-LAN)Proficiency in Python or similar programming languagesExperience with AI/ML model development, training, and evaluationFamiliarity with centralized log configuration, monitoring tools, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate managementAbility to work on-site 60% of the time at a client SCIF in Washington, D.C.Preferred Requirements
2 years of experience building and maintaining systems within AWSExperience incorporating AI/ML models into cloud products and shepherding prototypes from POC to productionFamiliarity with event-based systems and asynchronous message queue infrastructureExperience with AWS Top-Secret Cloud (i.e., C2S/C2E)Experience working in a Scrum-based task/team structure (i.e., SAFe Agile 6.0)Familiarity with the Intelligence Community (IC) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)Education/Certification Requirements
