Overview We are seeking a full-time Technical Lead Design Engineer in our Tucson, AZ location. In this role, you will be responsible for being a key technical contributor and Project Engineer for major product development projects and electrical design for significant new applications of known technology for Garmin's Sporting Dog and Outdoor products. Essential Functions Provide key technical contributions in the design and review of complex circuit design and PCB layout for designs that are new to Garmin which may be analog, digital, or RF Design system architectures consisting of one or more PCB’s or boxes May serve as Project Engineer for complex designs used in new product functions and may lead major research or product development project consisting of multiple modules or sub-projects Provide significant contribution to design reviews across multiple product types Evaluate new technologies, features and functions and offer process improvement suggestions and author new procedures as appropriate Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced design engineers (Design Engineer 1, 2 & Senior Design Engineers) Defines general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems considered state of the art and applies extensive technical expertise/analysis to all assigned projects Complete broadly defined complex tasks including taking conceptual ideas and putting them to practice and regularly demonstrate creativity/ingenuity to develop reliable solutions to complex problems Integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of normal job responsibilities Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrates ability to develop and review complex analog, digital, and/or RF circuit designs including simulations, schematics, PCB layout and evaluation Must possess the ability to design system architectures consisting of one or more PCB’s or boxes Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications Extensive PCB and Schematic design experience for consumer products A strong RF background Experience bringing a product through to mass production and shipment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
