Technical Librarian
Amentum is seeking an experienced Technical Librarian to provide Combined Regional Technical Libraries (CORETL) Support to our customer at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), in Norfolk, VA. This position requires a skilled individual capable of managing naval Technical Library functions, advanced research, and precise document processing to support ship maintenance and repair efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under time-sensitive conditions. **Essential Responsibilities** : + Manage inventory control of naval Technical Libraries, including receiving, cataloging, barcoding, and filing technical documents. + Maintain and secure Satellite Libraries, ensuring accessibility and compliance with security protocols. + Conduct audits, install revisions and changes to technical manuals, order new manuals, and maintain accurate records. + Provide expert-level research support for technical information requests, meeting high-tempo demands with over 100 requests per week. + Transcribe handwritten technical documents into professionally formatted outputs, ensuring compliance with DoD and Navy standards. + Utilize advanced research techniques to retrieve and reproduce submarine and surface ship drawings and technical manuals, maintaining access to relevant online resources. + Cross-reference APL data with technical manuals, drawings, NSNs, NIINs, and cage codes to ensure accurate documentation and support naval ship repair. + Handle security-classified materials in accordance with SECNAVINST 5510.36 (series) and ensure proper disposal of confidential materials. + Provide training to customers and technical teams, leveraging prior experience or Navy Instructor School credentials. + Distribute technical information using approved platforms like AMRDEC, secure emails, and shared folders. **Minimum Requirements** : + Minimum of one (1) year of practical word processing experience within the last five (5) years, including formatting technical manuscripts from rough drafts. + Typing proficiency of 45 words per minute with no more than three (3) errors in five (5) minutes. + One (1) year of specialized experience in inventory control of a naval Technical Library and handling security-classified materials. + Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and compliance with Navy Information Security protocols. + Demonstrated ability to conduct advanced research, manage technical drawings, and utilize relevant library systems such as Naval Logistics Library (NLL). + Knowledge of TMINS, NAVSHIPS, and NAVELEX documents and their cataloging processes. + Strong customer service skills and adaptability to high-stress environments. + Expert knowledge of Expanded Work Breakdown Structure (ESWBS) identification codes and naval SUBSAFE standards. **Preferred Qualifications (not required)** : + Specialized training beyond high school, substitutable for up to six (6) months of experience. + Experience supporting naval Technical Library functions or Navy ship repair operations. + Graduate of Navy Instructor School or equivalent training experience. + Familiarity with Ships Drawing Indexes (SDIs), Index of Technical Publications (ITPs), and MBPS systems. + Advanced knowledge of classification systems, security handling, and technical manual compliance. + Experience developing and securing Satellite Libraries.
