Technical Manager, Instrumentation & Control
The Technical Manager is a member of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the CANDU MONARK Project, responsible for implementation of the instrumentation and controls design program within engineering, inclusive of interfacing with all stakeholders. The Technical Manager will report functionally to the Director, I&C Computers Electrical Engineering, and daily to the project Technical Director.

The Technical Manager is responsible for:
Coordinating and oversight of instrumentation and control design activities related to the completion of fundamental instrumentation and control design for a nuclear steam plant (NSP).Coordinating the design interface between the NSP and balance of plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant.Ensuring the sequence of engineering deliverables supports the engineering design program.Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Modelling, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment and/or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.Production and / or modification of engineering processes required for the assurance of engineering quality within the department.The Technical Manager will oversee the work of 10 to 15 Instrumentation & Control engineering staff. Supervisory responsibilities include:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) from an accredited University.Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, or eligible within six (6) months of hire.5 or more years of experience leading teams.Proven track record of performance in a multidiscipline, dynamic, project delivery environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Excellent client communications skills.Excellent organization and time management skills.Willing to travel to and potentially work at sites to meet business needs, inclusive of project (construction) site and equipment / component suppliers. (Note: the main work location will be our Mississauga campus or our Pickering location, based on a combination of project requirements and employee preference).Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada is a condition of employment.Experience managing engineering work with significant interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Process / Systems, Mechanical, Physics, Safety, Licensing, Civil / Structural, Electrical, Human Factors, and Process Control), Procurement, Quality Assurance, Contracts, and Construction.Experience working within a Nuclear Quality Management System (CSA N286), and nuclear quality standards (CSA N299).Working knowledge of/experience with the IEC and IEEE suites of standards pertaining to Electrical, Instrumentation and Control design, and other applicable standards and nuclear regulatory guides.Experience delivering an overall plant control system design of a power production facility.Commercial acumen, with experience in procurement, contracts, supply chain, and/or logistics.Experience and capability in regulatory communications in a regulated industry is an asset.Station operations and/or station maintenance experience in a plant controls faculty is an asset.
