**The Opportunity**
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.
The position of **Technical Manufacturing Chemist II** is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at Scarborough, Maine. In this role you will provide advanced technical support toward the accomplishment of manufacturing and product development objectives.
**WHAT YOU'LL DO:**
+ Provides advanced technical support toward the accomplishment of manufacturing and product development objectives
+ Responsible for characterizing the performance of materials, processes and products.
+ Consults with and provides technical evaluations for other departments (Manufacturing, Development, etc.)
+ May work with test requestors to develop test programs, formulate test protocols, and choose appropriate test equipment. This will include supervision of fabrication or selection of new equipment as needed.
+ May conduct root cause analysis on product failures, including proposals for preventive actions
**Supervisory Responsibilities:**
This job may have supervisory responsibilities of TM Chemist I position. If applicable the supervision will be in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:**
+ Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a Science related field.
+ Minimum five years’ experience in the Medical/Biotech field.
+ Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Master’s Degree in a Science related field _or_ equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Familiarity with national and international testing standards related to mechanical and chemical testing

The base pay for this position is $26.30 – $52.60 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
