The Technical Operator will perform duties in support of the safe operation of a large products terminal, which includes truck loading and off-loading, pipeline receipts, and shipments. This role monitors VCU (Vapor Combustion Unit) operation and emissions for compliance within regulations. This role involves a day shift, 4-10 weekday schedule, with on call responsibilities overnight and weekends, as scheduled. Position will be based at our Rock Springs, WY Midstream Terminal. The role will participate as an integral team member and will be a key contributor to the organization from a support capacity.

Responsibilities May Include:

Operating and maintaining equipment. Performing routine pipeline maintenance and pigging. Responding to emergencies. Responding to One-Calls Managing third party encroachments Ensuring the quality and quantity of refined products. Following all policies, procedures, and other requirements, both internal and external (for example, DOT). Keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures, and other requirements. Completing administrative tasks including paperwork and electronic reporting and filing. Staying current on required training. Participating in emergency response exercises. Identifying and resolving pipeline scheduling conflicts. Monitoring controls and establishing safe valve line-ups for pipeline deliveries and receipts. Maintaining effective and professional relationships with customers and responding promptly to their needs. Performing environmental and regulatory checks. Performing security and equipment facility rounds. Assisting others with their training when needed. Completing periodic inventory reconciliations (for example, loss/gain reports). Performing permitting activities, such as Lock, Tag, & Try; Hot Work; Excavation; and Confined Space Entry. Filling in as temporary Terminal Supervisor on occasion, once trained.


Required Qualifications:

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country High school diploma or GED equivalent Must maintain valid driver’s license 18 years of age or older 1 or more years of experience in the petroleum industry, manufacturing or other related industrial areas  Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:  Climb various ladders and stairs 5 to 40 feet in height to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment Raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds Walk, stand, stop, sit, climb, and carry material daily on even and uneven terrain  Be on call 50% of the time, work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays on an as-needed basis  Work alone up to 50% of the time Work outside in harsh weather conditions Wear personal protective equipment, such as flame-retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel- toe boots, hard hat, etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree or higher in process technology or other petroleum industry degree 1 or more years of mechanical knowledge of pumps, motor, and valves 1 of more years of experience with any of the following:  Allen-Bradley PLC's Rosemount Transmitters  Acculoads VCU (Vapor Combustor Unit) Tank gauging/sampling  Meter Proving and measurement equipment  Knowledge of mechanical and rotating equipment Knowledge of refined products and/or crude oil quality specifications Working knowledge of process controls and oil movements Working knowledge of P&ID drawings

 

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
