This opportunity is working directly with a successful UK based OEM looking to expand market share in the US providing instruments and consultative services to the critical power industry. They help data centers save money by reducing energy and operating costs and provide solutions for in modernizing their customer's electrical infrastructure. They accomplish this by providing reliability of mission-critical facilities for the world's largest organizations (Hyperscale and Enterprise Customers). Our client is looking for a Technical Outside Sales Engineer that will generate sales throughout the US, Canada, Latin and South America. The majority of work is focused on opportunities in the USA and Canada. The company utilizes rep firms in defined sales territories in the US and distributors outside the USA. Candidate will need to solve application issues and interpret test results. Candidate will manage all aspects of the sale and will also act as the technical sales contact on sales opportunities. Ideal candidate will possess contacts in the Mission Critical Data Center / Critical Facilities Marketplace. Candidate will help close deals when presented and will be technically supporting Resellers, Rep firms and conducting direct sales with end users in the Enterprise, Colo, and Hyperscale market. The ideal candidate will have knowledge or previous experience selling Critical Power Solutions. The Sales Engineer will also be responsible for preparing proposals - (RFIs, RFPs), PowerPoint / teams presentations, and briefings. Candidate will also be expected to establish positive relationships with existing business partners in hopes to generate additional business. A proven track record of data center product sales skills are a must along with a strong background in electrical power distribution, medium / high voltage switchgear, and substation experience.

Responsibilities

Pursuit / Connect / Develop New Business and maintain and grow established clients with Power Engineers in targeted industry focus (Electric Utilities, Critical Facilities, etc.)Technical Sales calls to leading data center Colos, enterprise and hyper scalers to present Company's Value propositionDevelop existing sales channels to generate leads, manage customers, RFPs / generate quotes, and close business.Attend walkthroughs / onsite meetings as required to assess site conditions and develop scopes of work.Work with sales channels to schedule and visit customers to promote and demonstrate products and services. Assist with all technical aspect of sales calls with Resellers, Rep Firms, etc. with RFP interviews, requirements meetings, etc. until deal is closedTaylor demos and specific client sites at various Critical Facilities, Power Utilities, and Industrial Customers, presenting the company’s partial discharge instruments along with promoting our asset management software and consulting services.Provide demo products to customers for presentations and for training seminarsInterpret electrical drawings, specifications / specs, and apply codes / standards to develop an optimized customized solutionCollaborate with UK office when needed for RFPs / RFQs / proposals for consulting and services other than instruments: collecting costs, calculating profitability, and writing value propositions with detailed technical and commercial proposals.Provide technical support for products when customers callConduct lunch and learns while providing products sales and training webinarsAttend trade shows and arrange booth space at events and conferences to market the company’s Critical Power OEM Services as necessaryWrite and present technical papers at conferences and magazine articles Perform on-site field work to test MV electrical assets / including collecting the data and writing final reportReport to the Executive Team regarding company on issues, successes, sales forecasting and technical needs. Maintain rolling forecast in CRM systemContinually review and revise sales channel performance and adapt where change is needed if neededRecruit new sales representatives as neededTravel to customer sites (estimated to be approximately 60%) Responsible for scheduling all flights, hotels, etc. Submit expense reports monthlyCollect / capture / maintain contacts / generate quotes / proposals into company CRM system

Requirements

5+ years’ experience in MV (medium voltage) / HV (high voltage) electrical power technical salesDetailed knowledge of medium voltage distribution equipment in private networksBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other technically related degree in the industry - a Plus2-5 years of relevant technical sales experience in the data center / critical facilities / critical power / Power Generation industry Data Center Products (UPS, Generators, Switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, arc flash) sales experience2-5 years’ experience in the field of Electrical Testing / Electrical Commissioning Sales (medium, and high voltage wire, Relays, electrical power systems equipment including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers and high voltage wire)Contacts in – Data Centers / Electrical Utilities: Power Engineers, Energy Marshalls, Facilities Managers, Engineering etc.Contacts with Partners: Engineering Firms, Electrical Contractors, Data Center Providers, Construction Companies, Commissioning Companies, Rep Firms, etc.Member / Attendee of local professional chapters / conferences (AFCOM, 7x24, Datacenter Dynamics / DCD, NETA, American Public Power Association (APPA), Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA), IEEE, Bisnow / DICE, International Electrical Testing Association / NETA, etc. Specific experience in data center power reliability and testing a plusTeam player and be able to build long-term cooperative partner relationships with internal and external individuals who are part of the business development processEffective Communicator-emails, phone, meetings, etc.Detail oriented individual with excellent written and oral communication and organizational skillsAbility to work independently / unsupervised / wearing a lot of hats navigating a small office Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TeamsExperience with a Customer Resource Management (CRM) systemSpanish Fluency a plusMust have car, valid driver’s license, and valid passportAbility to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the USPrevious experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
