Technical Pricing Actuary
Join us as a Technical Pricing Actuary in our Modelling & Advanced Analytics team to take your career to the next level with an international market leader. Make your mark in Actuarial The Modelling & Advanced Analytics team, within Actuarial Global Pricing, support the broader Actuarial function in calibrating commercial lines rating solutions through predictive modelling and market insights. The raters are used by underwriters to guide pricing and risk selection and are critical to AIG’s long-term profitability. This team works alongside Product Actuaries, Underwriters, and the other teams within Global Pricing (Rater Delivery, Pricing MI and Pricing Effectiveness) to deliver best-in-class statistical modelling, data science, and technological solutions whilst supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team. How you will create an impact This is a fantastic role for someone who has strong modelling skills and experience in General Insurance pricing to work in a dedicated team that is focused on delivering cutting edge technical pricing models. You will work on models across a breadth of portfolios and products, and you will have the opportunity to learn and use our modern tools used for predictive modelling (including a cloud-based machine learning platform and specialized software). The role is suited to someone who is organized and able to manage multiple projects. They should be keen to start or continue a career in the insurance industry, are self-motivated to research, learn new techniques and has a passion for using code when approaching analytical tasks. Some of the key responsibilities include: + Work with Product Actuaries and Underwriting to build and maintain advanced statistical modelling pipelines that form the basis for rating tools and support business decisions. + Support timely delivery of prioritized modelling projects on AIG’s modelling platforms – for coded models the platform of choice is AWS Sagemaker AI where our Actuaries create, train, and deploy predictive models used to calibrate raters. + Train and support Actuaries in their use of advanced modelling and analytics approaches. + Enhance and standardize scalable modelling processes and tools being applied across AIG’s product portfolio. + Research and develop cutting-edge algorithmic techniques to deliver transformational improvements in modelling processes and data quality. + Take ownership of projects utilizing Agile planning approaches, apply rigorous coding standards in reviewing the work of others and managing junior resources. What you’ll need to succeed + At least five years of relevant experience; particularly in Technical Pricing, Actuarial or predictive modelling. + Degree in a mathematical or computer science related discipline. + Comfortable coding in R, Python or other language popular for data science. + Experience in using cloud platforms (such as AWS, GCP, Azure) and purpose-built solutions such as Emblem/Radar to deliver modelling pipelines is preferable. + Expertise in Excel, SQL or other programming languages will be useful. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. + Experience in working within an Agile framework is preferable. + Part qualified Actuary from a recognized actuarial society is preferable. #LI-AIG Enjoy benefits that take care of what matters At AIG, our people are our greatest asset.
