Position Title: Technical Production, Student Assistant Specialist Requisition Number: 0406073459 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Drama/Productions Responsibilities: The Production area at the College of Performing Arts seeks highly motivated students to serve as Technical Production, Student Assistant Specialists (PA). We’re looking for diligent and interested individuals to support initiatives within Production. The Production Department is responsible for supporting the production needs of academic related performances and partner events across the College of Performing Arts. This position reports to the Director Of Performance Technology/Technical Supervisor and is an ideal for students who are interested in a career in live events including Event Management and Audio or Video production.
This position is open to student applicants with Federal Work Study awards, as well as student applicants without a Federal Work Study award.

Work Mode: On-Campus Position
Hourly Rate: $18/hr 
Hours per Week: As scheduled, no guaranteed hours. No more than 20 hours in any given week, while classes are in session.  
Responsibilities Setup and strike equipment and cables safely and neatly Execute stage moves as assigned Operate lighting, audio, video, projections and/or other stage equipment as directed and trained Record audio and/or video of projects as assigned Facilitate and/or relay communications to artists and other technicians as directed, including being on coms and distributing paper schedules Assist in maintenance of spaces and equipment as directed by your supervisor Retrieve and move equipment between rooms and buildings as directed Load and offload trucks, on occasion Clean and maintain equipment as directed Attend all scheduled calls on time Communicate any scheduling conflicts or changes in advance with supervisor Additional responsibilities as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Basic understanding of performing arts related disciplines such as music concerts, drama productions, special events etc… Ability to interpret event technical documents including technical riders, signal flow diagrams, input lists, stage plots, run-of-show, and cue lists Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and time-management skills Ability to communicate with other departments and event coordinator to ensure a smooth show Punctuality, professionalism, and a positive collaborative attitude when working with Students, Faculty, Staff, and Team Members.  Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications Comprehensive understanding of performing arts related disciplines such as music concerts, drama productions, special events, etc… Understanding of lighting, audio, video, and/or projections equipment such as lighting consoles, audio mixers and recorders, video cameras etc… Production management or stage management experience Able to lift up to 50lbs Comfortable working at heights up to 30 feet Able to climb over and crawl under platforms and set pieces Recipient of a Federal Work Study award Current student in a College of Performing Arts degree program Job Family: New School for Drama Posting Date: 07/18/2024 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Yes Supplemental Questions
