Technical Project Lead-Welding
Position: Technical Project Lead – Welding Place of Work: Camden, NJ Holtec International seeks qualified applicants for a Technical Project Lead in Welding. The Technical Project Lead-Welding will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers engaged in designing Holtec’s flagship nuclear reactor SMR-300 managed by SMR LLC, which is a subsidiary of Holtec International. Holtec International a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry. The Technical Project Lead - Welding will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the SMR welding construction techniques, assisting with the SMR module design and welding, and supporting the SMR civil-structural team with the advancement of robotic welding techniques and practices. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Minimum required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Welding or Construction Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or naval nuclear industry with a strong understanding of engineering principles. Familiarity with welding processes (ASME IX Qualified), including: Semi-automatic FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), Semi-automatic and Robotic GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), Manual GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), Automatic Laser Welding, and other robotic welding techniques. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information. Strong leadership and team collaboration skills. Ability to troubleshoot issues and think critically to solve complex problems. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Knowledge of and experience with weld symbols and reading fabrication drawings. Professional demeanor, innovative thinker with the ability to present ideas, concepts, and theories to all levels. Good communication and presentation skills (written and verbal). Ability to travel 10-20% of the time. Onsite position in Camden, NJ, with a flexible schedule. Additional desirable qualifications include an MS in Engineering. Familiarity with Holtec manufacturing processes, procedures, and quality assurance Specific Areas of Responsibility : Work closely with other project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure all aspects of assigned projects are aligned and progressing smoothly. Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the project/procurement lifecycle. Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and updates. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Ensure all project activities meet or exceed industry standards, NRC regulations, and company quality guidelines. Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and changes in scope. Address technical issues and project challenges, providing solutions to keep the project on track.
