How will you make an impact?
We are searching for an energetic Technical Sales Specialist ready to join our Thermo Fisher team! This role is responsible for the technical sales and related support activities for microscopy and plate reader instrumentation to specified academic, government or industrial accounts in IL, MI, OH and IN. This role balances prospecting for new opportunities, demonstrating scientific imaging and detection equipment, and participation in local scientific shows and events. This sales position will be home based and requires the individual to be located in Illinois, Indiana or Michigan, serving the assigned territory.

What will you do:

Demonstrate selling success in the area of microscopes and plate readersDisplay an acute awareness of the life science marketplace, particularly within cellular imaging & analysis, its trends, and our competitorsDrive sales opportunities, including providing information on product capabilities and technical specifications, as well as instrument demonstrationsAttend and participate in sales meetings, seminars and trade shows

The instrument portfolio contains innovative, high-quality microscopes and plate readers. Our business unit serves researchers worldwide, accelerating the process of scientific discovery with a strong focus on the areas of applied markets, cellular immunity, neuroscience, and oncology.

Who are we looking for:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field required, preferred M.Sc. or PhD

Strong background in microscopyHands-on experience in a research laboratory setting preferred, or previous sales experience selling microscopes/instrumentationExperience in working efficiently in a matrix environment


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strong oral and written communication skillsSuccess in working and driving business growth across business functionsAbility to travel overnight travel up to 50% of the timeValid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordAble to lift 50 lbs. independentlyExperience with Microsoft Office applicationsKnowledge of CRM systems like SFDCUnderstanding of the sales funnel and how to move sales forward in a changing environmentCan-do demeanor and highly motivated to win sales and take share from competitors
