Position Description
The duties of the Technical Service Engineer are to provide skills to rebuild the electrical and mechanical components for header products used in automatic pedestrian door installations.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
Work within a team tasked environment. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders when product issues are reported. Communicate with internal and external teams to ensure a PO is issued for replacement items. Log and issue RMA’s (Return Material Authorizations) to ensure replacement item(s) are shipped and discrepant materials are returned to the factory for further evaluation. Receive, review and document RMA activities that are performed on the repair and testing of returned products, parts and components. Communicate the findings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure whether the “as found” condition of returned material is a warranty issue and communicate PO status as cancelled or the cost is charged to the proper accountsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill Technical Service Engineer role:
The ability to understand the function and operation of trouble-shooting equipment as well as complex electrical circuits at a competent level. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and properly identify each circuit with or without blueprints. Ability to perform board repair, utilize proper techniques for removal and installation through the board components on PCB boards. Competent in a Microsoft Office environment Detailed oriented using fine visual skills. Well-organized with strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability work in a fast-paced environment for an extended period of time. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. AA degree in Electronics or equivalent work experience in a related field preferred. 3 – 5 years of proven experience in electronics, with the ability to read schematics, follow procedures, and make component level repairs with demonstrated proficiency. Other: Positive attitude; self-motivated. Reliable and well-disciplined; ability to work well with others and follow instructions.
Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. This is a primarily a sitting position for up to 8 hours per day in a factory environment. Ability to lift 25 or more pounds both overhead and at waist level. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs, bend to the floor and reaching. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Work Environment
Exposure to intermediate/loud noise is expected when working in the manufacturing environment. The work environment is climate controlled.
