The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a part time Technical Services Intern to our growing team in Tampa, Florida. This hybrid internship will start as soon as possible and will be 20-25 hours per week. 

What we look for in our Technical Services Interns:

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel (priority), PowerPoint, Outlook, and AutoCAD required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates, and other regularly encountered items.Data analysis experience preferred.Building Automation system knowledge/experience and interest preferred.College Junior standing or higher is required.Working toward a Mechanical Engineering degree or resource/energy management field is required. Availability starting in March 2025Must be 18 years of age or older

What are our Technical Services Interns responsible for:

Project Support

Demonstrates an understanding of basic engineering concepts related to energy efficiency, building systems, heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics or sustainability.Conduct commissioning submittal reviews, draft functional performance tests, amount other commissioning tasksSupports client sustainability and energy efficiency projects.Site visits to conduct testing of new HVAC equipment and tag it.Data analysis, including data entry and review.Archiving and filing of completed projects.

Energy and Sustainability Research

Research new HVAC and/or lighting technology options.Assist in actively engaging with students and staff in energy conservation education and activitiesResearch rebate and rebate trends.Utilizes both manual and packaged calculations software
