Technical Services Lead

Upon satisfactory performance evaluation compensation increases to $38.65. General Summary: This is a working Lead position to assist in the direction of the Technical Services staff and is a skilled labor position for the set-up, operation, dismantle repair and maintenance of facility audio, rigging, dimmable lighting, and staging systems, and the set-up, operation and dismantle of client provided audio, video and lighting systems. As directed, this position may be required to create/place labor calls, track billing for labor and equipment, and accurately complete estimates and payroll . This position is governed by a contract between IATSE #7 and ASM Global. This position is also required to operate high-lifts, forklifts and other material handling equipment as requested. Additional responsibilities and tasks are assigned as directed by event, Technical Services Manager and/or Operations requests. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: · Supervise and participate in the installation and operation of event related audio, theatrical lighting, rigging and video equipment as specified, troubleshoot and fix issues that arise. · Communicate openly and professionally in person, on the radio and in emails with clients, crew, and other building personnel during stressful situations. · Work with Technical Services Manager and other Lead position to achieve common goals. · Review event documents and production riders to determine equipment and service requirements needed for events and compile reports/estimates. · Participate in pre-production calls with clients, tours and/or promoters, answer questions, take notes and relay information to the rest of the Technical Services crew. · Create task lists, work order item lists, and changeover sheets based on event function schedules and mobile work orders. · Provide and communicate daily task lists and direction for the crew, including accurate floor plans and related information. · Prepare workbook estimates for Bellco Theatre and other events throughout the facility, track hours and billing for timely reports during events and at the events conclusion. · Review event rigging plans for entire facility according to safety specifications and procedures before and during events in the facility. · Attend weekly events meetings and/or event pre-cons as directed by the Technical Services Manager. · Direct and engage in safe operation and maintenance of facility audio, theatrical/dimmable lighting, rigging, video and related equipment. · Operate, plan and track maintenance/repair of facility audio, theatrical/dimmable lighting, rigging, video systems and related equipment. · Place and manage union labor calls and facilitate accurate and efficient labor sign-in/sign out. · Coordinate, supervise and direct on-call stagehands. · Follow company policy to complete work report documentation per the union contract. · Perform maintenance of equipment and keep inventory up to date. · Make recommendations to the Technical Services Manager regarding the purchase of supplies and equipment. · Operate facility lifts for contractors/clients as directed – (Certification preferred) · Operate material handling equipment as required. · Complete timely, accurate event related documentation and report findings to Technical Services Manager and Event Manager. · Update and document changes to department SOPs and JHAs. · Write, maintain and follow relevant JSA and SDS information · Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: · Minimum High School Diploma or GED – some college coursework or degree preferred · 5-10 years of experience in industry or related field · Knowledge of signal flow in sound reinforcement, stage lighting and video/projection systems (related technologies: DMX, ETC ION, NET 3, GrandMA2, BIAMP, Dante, Lutron, Luxon, Saliot) and programming/operation methods and troubleshooting procedures. · Knowledge of safe rigging practices and procedures - Ability to read CAD drawings and work with rigging diagrams and plans. - Preferably ETCP certified and/or able to provide proof of required knowledge, experience and best practices. Climbing experience preferred Skills and Abilities: · Perform leadership role and job tasks effectively and efficiently despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities. · Ability to work from drawings, specifications and oral requests to achieve desired service/product or goal. · Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills among all levels of staff and clientele. · Advanced problem solving and organizational skills. · Prior customer service experience and be able to provide this service in a professional and considerate manner. · Excellent record of dependability and reliability. · Work effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization; skill to work effectively as part of a team. · Ability to speak, understand, and read and write standard English and follow direction. · Ability to lift heavy items, bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time. · Experience with payroll as it relates to union contract and policies. · Thorough knowledge of the CBA between ASM Global and IATSE Local 7. Computer Skills: · Ability to create word documents and create/manipulate excel spreadsheets within the written formulas and do basic data entry, is required in this position.
