Technical Services Manager - PE
Job Description

Reporting to the Global Director of Technical Service, this role manages and maintains Grace technical relationships with customers through frequent direct contact and service delivery that helps increase profits. This role will work closely with sales managers, Corporate Account Managers, R&D and new business development in identifying, developing and achieving business objectives for Polyethylene.

Responsibilities Serve as the technical expert to Grace customers by troubleshooting technical issues at the customer site, demonstrating Grace product capabilities, recommending solutions and serving as the Grace representative in technical proposals to the customers. Manage and maintain Grace technical relationships with customers through frequent direct contact and service delivery that helps increase profits. Work closely with other functions in Grace (mainly R&D, Marketing and Technology Managers) to deliver Grace’s full portfolio of products and services. Support sales and marketing in identifying the competitive advantages, benchmarking, marketing effort and market segmentation of the business. Provide innovative ideas to strengthen sales in existing polyolefin markets and open up new applications.  This includes use of existing and new products for both new markets and established markets.      Manage the trial cycle. Understand customer application and advice the customer about pilot and commercial trials during the pretrial, actual trial and post-trial analysis to demonstrate our product and to achieve the performance targets that they have Provide on-site and remote support during customer trials in order to assist customers in achieving maximum benefit from Grace products. Maintain broad based technical and economic knowledge of the Polyolefins business including Global sharing of key learning Required Experience

BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree with relevant experience

Reasonably strong chemistry and catalytic familiarity

Min 5+ yrs in catalyst field, preferably in prior Tech Service role, operating plant environment, and/or in some form of chemical process environment

Prior experience in relevant Polyolefin (Polyethylene) catalyst field

Ability to travel ~60% mainly in India, Southeast Asia. ~10% to other regions

Good working relationship with sales / prior customer interface experience

Prior field tech service experience

Prior experience in working across regions for a global company

Required Competencies

Strong technical skills and ability to apply skills in practical manner to solve customer problems/issues.  Practical experience with commercial reactors and operations is needed.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

Ability to present to customers effectively and good customer presence.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to present to customers effectively and good customer presence

Quick learner and able to have good problem-solving skills

Self-starter – does not need to be told what to do, but work in a semi-ambiguous and autonomous role

Good business acumen – assessing business opportunities/customer problems and offering technology & solutions to customers
