TITLE: Technical Services Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Production TYPE: Full-Time, Exempt IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Technical Services Manager SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Crews assigned to A/V Technician for special projects Local Union crews during events GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Serves as a liaison between the Performing Arts Center and events coming to the theater, communicating their needs and our expectations about the space and its abilities. Manage the operation, preventive maintenance, installation and repair of all audio, video, theatrical lighting systems, fly system, rigging, A/V related computer networking systems and equipment – primarily within the Performing Arts Center. This position also operates and maintains the Security Camera system and CCTV systems within the North Charleston Coliseum, Convention Center Halls and Performing Arts Centers (the Facilities). AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Assist all aspects of the Production department with its policies, procedures, customer service and safety guidelines. Manage and/or assist with equipment upgrades and special projects involving audio/visual (A/V) equipment. Daily operation, equipment upgrades, repairs, preventative maintenance and special projects with the Security Camera system and CCTV system. Understand and operate (and be able to train Operations staff concerning the use of the Facilities systems, including, but not limited to, mixing consoles, public address systems, intercom, video equipment, theatrical lighting, computers, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices on a case-by-case basis. Research and assist in advancing accurate event production information as it relates to A/V needs through direct contact with show production managers, A/V directors and other clients. Communicate A/V production information to other appropriate departments and staff to ensure that events are executed in a professional manner. Assist with acquiring client audio, lighting, rigging and video requirements. Help prepare and operate within the annual department budget. Assist in researching and implementing capital items purchase recommendations. Perform preventive maintenance and trouble shoot issues on Theater audio, video, lighting, rigging, on Security Camera systems and CCTV systems. Maintain service records and equipment inventories. Develop and submit lists of necessary repairs and improvements. Operate equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, man-lifts, hand tools and power tools. Assist, as needed, with load-in, set-up and load-out of decorators and exhibitors and with handling fulfillment of contractual Technical Service needs of clients. Assist the Facilities staff, as needed, in other areas of Operations, performing other tasks as required by events. QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques and theories of sound reinforcement; lighting design and operation, video projection systems, theatrical fly systems, rigging equipment, security camera systems, CCTV systems, and A/V IT convergence. Have the ability to perform physical labor in responsibilities listed above. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot equipment in house systems. Knowledge of purchasing techniques. Knowledge of computer operations. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices with an emphasis in working with and training others. Some exposure to marketing and public relations. Previous experience in a similar facility and/or degree or vocational technical certificate in one or more areas preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging and camera equipment. Ability to speak, read and write English. Ability to access all areas of the Facilities. Ability to perform physical labor. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
