Our Client, a Software company, is looking for a Technical Specialist, Vision and Communications for their Southfield, MI location. Responsibilities: + Design and develop high-precision lens systems for various applications. + Create detailed 3D models and simulations to support lens design and development. + Perform optical simulations and interpret results to optimize lens performance. + Validate and sign off on lens designs before production release. + Optimize optical systems for manufacturability, cost and environmental conditions Collaboration and Integration: + Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of lens systems into larger optomechanical assemblies. + Participate in early concept development and feasibility studies for new products. + Collaborate with design engineers to create engineering documentation, including DFMEA and DVP&R. Prototyping and Testing: + Lead the prototyping and testing of lens systems to ensure they meet design specifications and performance criteria. + Define and coordinate testing and validation activities at the system and component levels. + Conduct root-cause analysis and resolve issues encountered during prototyping and production. + Provide information and review drawings for optical components manufacturing drawings Innovation and Best Practices: + Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and regulatory changes in optical engineering. + Implement best practices and provide training to colleagues as needed. + Perform benchmark studies to identify alternative solutions and improve existing designs.
