Technical Specialist - Apparel (Sweater)

Overview: 

Assist in supporting the approval process of incentive purchases, including quality, packaging, and sizing / spec approval. Communicates with multiple internal and external contacts on a routine basis. This person must possess a desire to learn, take direction well, strong communication and organization skills, and be a team player. Travel may be required. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 Communication
 

Collaborates with Sr Technical Specialist, Product Development Team (PD) & Buyers to develop a full implementation of product, quality, value, and designCommunication and follow up of samples to vendors – approvals, rejections, and due datesUnderstands decision making is participatory and uses experience and other’s knowledge to make informed decisionsEstablishes, regular and effective communication channels with the PD, Merchant team as well as Vendor community - Communicates recommendations and approvals to PD Buyers, Vendors and MM’s when necessary

 

Merchandise
 

Able to work independently and with Sr Technical Specialist, PD and Buyers in the review process of fit, quality of samples and valuesFollow up on action on quality, fit and value issues - take action as neededParticipate in product educational classes, workshops, and webinarsManage all necessary tasks and duties in the absence of Sr Technical SpecialistBecome knowledgeable of all CPSC, CPSIA, FTC, FDA, State and Corporate/Global regulations, policies and procedures, ensure all regulations are followedMarket travel as necessaryResponsibilities include their own department/family of Apparel business

 

Administrative
 

Maintains production tracking spreadsheets. Process and organize daily receipt of samples - document styles received back to tracking spreadsheetGeneral office duties including but not limited to filing, purging old files, purging old samples,  donations to charities, organizing samplesSpecial projects as assigned or directed based off business need

 

Job Requirements:
 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceTechnical Knowledge of Apparel about Fit, Fabrication, Specification detailsAt least 3-4 years Merchandising, and/or Technical Design Proficient in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) softwaresStrong Communication SkillsStrong organization skills and follow through skills PC skills including Excel and Microsoft Word Works well in a team environmentAbility to handle multiple projects Good eye for color, design and fit detailAbility to reset priorities as necessary
