Position Specific Description

The Asset Management and GIS Services Department in the Power Delivery Business Unit is seeking a Technical Specialist I to join their team in Juno Beach, FL.


The selected candidate for this role will:
•    Oversee all department Automated Plat Design and be a subject matter expert.
•    Create simple to complex APD and APD Streetlight jobs in the AMS system.
•    Be responsible for collaborating with designers and technicians regarding APD projects.
•    Review and facilitate submitted requests through workflow process.
•    Review junior technicians’ work and provide mentorship/guidance.
•    Use WMS to create/update and apply inventory from APD design work.
•    Perform research and assessment using FPL tools, including RSV and FPLGIS
•    Coordinate CAD work of APD designs.

 

3 years’ experience with APD designs, FPL's Work Management System (WMS) and Design Manager highly preferred.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for providing project management and design services for distribution facilities as required. Employees in this role apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Individuals are highly knowledgeable and proficient in the design of the Distribution System, both in new construction and maintenance activities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities Performs work order assessment and completes complex of designs to meet internal/external customer needs and valid company requirements Coordinates the planning, organization, and implementation of engineering projects with other operating or engineering units to facilitate assignment completion Produces a resource estimate (e.g. man-hours, materials, work type) necessary to execute the work Evaluates distribution system capability to serve new load while understanding and mitigating potential future impacts of the new load Provides and maintains cost-effective design while considering the impact to the customer and valid customer requests Works with other department within the organization to establish customer requirements and project cost Prepares communications, conducts meetings, and implements improvement measures Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School Grad / GED Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience Experience: 3+ years Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree
