Technical Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Providing technical support and assistance to the account Technical Manager and the wider engineering teams across Bloomberg buildings ensuring operational and compliance standards are met and exceeded.

 

The Technical Supervisor will support the Senior Authorised Person of the High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical networks within the contract and have knowledge of Mechanical plant systems and Public Health strategies across the building. With assistance of the Technical Manager, the Technical Supervisor will be assisting the continual development and implementation of the accounts electrical AP scheme and BGIS operating systems. The role will support interventions and major Bloomberg projects.  

Key Responsibilities

 

Support the Technical Manager with technical supervision to ensure that all technical service commitments are met. Support the Technical Manager for HV/LV activities ensuring full compliance with BGIS HV/LV rules. Support the Technical Manager in ensuring that Statutory & Code compliance of sites is adhered to by the local management team and supported by specialist when required, Ensure that Risk Management is being delivered in a consistent manner. Ensure areas of team development are recognised and action plan in place. High Voltage appointed engineer to AP level.  Mechanical appointed engineer to AP level.  Updates to the SSOW / EOP / SOP mechanical processes Updates to the SSOW / EOP / SOP HV/LV processes Provide technical support to local teams. Annual planning of intrusive maintenance works including completion of impact assessments Liaison between BGIS and Bloomberg workplace engineering team  Technical support to BGIS and Bloomberg Infrastructure team members dealing with intrusive maintenance and project work to their building MEP infrastructures.  Investigate and assist with RCA’s on major operational incidents. Attend operational meetings as required. Actively promote management systems and processes that have been developed for BGIS across to ensure consistency. Communicate any contractual concerns with senior management to ensure resolution. Assist with the management of specialist subcontractors (HV/LV, Generators, EMS,) Management of LOTO process including permits Act of BGIS representative for Bloomberg Energy Efficiency Forum and implement initiatives where appropriate.  Actively promote energy management initiatives across existing infrastructure Management of AP and site test equipment calibration Deputise for Technical Manager when required Promote and maintain the core values of BGIS

 

Accountabilities

 

Reporting to the Technical Manager.

 

Working collaboratively as part of the BGIS technical services team.

 

Person Specification

 

Education   A good general education is essential, with engineering experience and qualifications.

 

Electrically qualified to NVQ level 3 (Minimum) Industry qualified to HNC level. (Preferable) Knowledge of Inspection and Testing Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Closed Water Systems Knowledge of Generators, ATS, STS, UPS Knowledge of Controls Systems, Safety Circuits, BMS, PMS, EMS, PLC, Lighting Controls  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Numerate and computer literate.

 

Background 

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a career showing continuous personal development and progression.

 

Up to date technical knowledge of Electrical mechanical engineering, and environmental regulations, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.

 

 

 

 

Experience        [Essential]          Supervisory and leadership experience at Lead Engineer Level within a hard services business.

 

Practical experience must include High Voltage & Low Voltage switching on complex infrastructure and the management of large and diverse specialist contractor teams.

 

Technical experience in both Commercial Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Applications (Building Services) 

 

 

[Desirable]        Delivery of wider facilities management services.

 

                            Work towards professional membership EngTech and work towards becoming a chartered engineer.

 

The development and review of teams, appraisal, and the application of effective people management practice.

Circumstances                               Candidates will be required to travel on occasions to support operational delivery and participate in training and business review. Some overnight stays may be needed.  Out of hours attendance to supervise planned works will be required.
