Introduction

The Technical Support - BULK is responsible for providing technical support to our customers and internal stakeholders for the BULK Material Handling Product Lines in the Asia Pacific Market Area. This will include ongoing site presence for diagnostic investigations, trouble shooting, analytical assessment and operational review of the BULK Materials Handling Product Lines, including, Feeders, Specialized Handling / material transfer, Railcar Handling and Stockyard machines.

 

The role encompasses support for Sales Account Management, Quote and Order Management and Customer Technical Support, understanding the customer’s needs and help create customer success, through scope definition and opportunity conversion. It is noted that upwards of 50% travel will be required of the successful incumbent.

Job Responsbilities in detail:-

 

Provide technical support for opportunities within the Asia Pacific Region. Participate in Customer funded site based regular visits, with the intention of providing product based technical support. Work closely with the Technical Sales Support Team to define a total understanding of the customer’s needs and develop further opportunities for the BULK business. Provide Technical based Site Visit reports and distribute accordingly to the appropriate stakeholders. Participate in performance of process and mechanical audits using specific test procedures and providing clear, concise and accurate communication for reporting of results providing recommendations to improve performance and determining refurbishment opportunities. Participate in the investigation of field problems, initiate reports, and work with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure corrective action has been taken and ensures communication of the resolution back to the global product centre for incorporation into new product design. Keeps abreast of new developments in industry by reviewing current technical literature, seminars, trade shows, technical associations, etc. Develop technical scopes of offer or part selection for the Technical Sales Support Team. Participate in both Customer and Office based meetings. Participate in fortnightly team and Business line monthly performance and opportunity meetings. Encourage customers to avail themselves of our service capability to develop funded regular programmed field inspections of our equipment. Show commitment to quality ethics and focus on meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring that safety and regulations are complied with. Demonstrate a cooperative team approach and collaboration within the GBP team. Work effectively with other teams and departments. Develop a thorough working knowledge of Products and techniques associated with product support activities. Be willing to travel regularly to any of the Asia Pacific countries and customer sites and participate in diagnostic investigations into problems with a view to providing technical enhancements and or technical solutions that address the findings. It is envisaged that travel could be 30% to 70% of the time. Provide feedback to all stakeholders on opportunities of the appointed site and report regularly on progress of these opportunities. Participate with stakeholders regarding problems, technical solutions, training & lecture information for presentations to client and professional groups. Assist Sales Department and Proposals in equipment selection and sizing, technical clarifications, and technical clarification meetings. Other tasks as requested on a case-by-case basis by the Senior Manager, Technical Support – GBP.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

A mechanical engineering Degree / trade qualification from college or technical school with five years related experience in mechanical environment working on BULK Materials Handling Equipment as defined by the previous list.

Proven ability to apply technical principles and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

Basic computer literacy with various types of office-based software skills.

Must have current motor vehicle license and passport.

Must be able to travel both domestic and foreign.

Must be able to pass random medical and drug tests.

Must be physically fit.

Desirable

Degree in mechanical engineering, mining, or chemical engineering; or equivalent experience.

Experience with the maintenance of BULK Materials Handling Equipment.

Desire to attain a solid grounding in unknown BULK Materials Handling Equipment
