The Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is looking for a Technical Trainer to join our Knowledge Management team!
The Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs for applications utilized by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), to support Marketing goals (growth, engagement, brand consistency, or loyalty) that enable BU’s alumni engagement and advancement operations.
While focused on Salesforce systems (Salesforce Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Experience Cloud), this position serves as an additional trainer supporting other systems within the DAR Applications portfolio, including Blackbaud CRM, Give Campus, Blackthorn. This multifaceted position combines technical training, eLearning design, and learning management system (LMS) administration.
The Technical Trainer collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to assess training needs, create learning objectives and outcomes, design, develop, and deliver engaging and interactive e-learning courses and instructor-led sessions, to sustain training programs that enhance user proficiency and drive the successful adoption of Salesforce Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Experience Cloud. You will use various e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, and Camtasia to create SCORM-compliant courses that can be hosted on DARs LMS. The position will evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and seek out ways to continually improve our training offerings. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of fundraising and advancement business processes and systems, the Salesforce platform and its applications, as well as adult learning principles and instructional design best practices. They will have excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects and deadlines. Position responsibilities:
Conduct training needs analysis and consult with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and end-users to identify learning gaps and performance objectives. Design and develop engaging and interactive e-learning courses and instructor-led sessions that align with the learning objectives and outcomes, using various e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate, Captivate, and Camtasia. Create and maintain a collection of training and knowledge materials, including user guides, videos, documentation, and SCORM compliant courses. Deliver and facilitate training sessions using various modalities such as online, in-person, or blended, and adapt to different learning styles and preferences. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training programs using various methods such as surveys, quizzes, feedback, and analytics, and make recommendations for improvement. Serve as a system administrator of the Kaltura media library and DAR learning management systems to manage the course catalog, enrollment, reporting, and user support. Stay current with the latest trends and developments in Salesforce, e-learning, and instructional design. Seek out ways to continually improve the training offerings.
