Technical Trainer, Rail Flaw Detection

Position Summary:
Responsibility for delivery of training and materials for all aspects of Sperry's Technical Training programs. With specific focus on facilitating the instruction of Rail Flaw Detection certification of Certified and Chief Operators in North America. This role will be a versatile addition to the training department and with growth potential to international training support. Primary responsibilities will be the supervision and instruction of CO trainees both in the classroom and on railroad property. Evaluate trainers and trainees for in field signoff and promotion. Producing and publishing training and examination materials for Sperry's Learning Management System (LMS).
Core Responsibilities: Supervision and Instruction: * Conduct training sessions and deliver lectures to educate trainees about rail flaw detection techniques, principles, and methodologies.
* Use visual aids, presentations, and interactive tools to enhance learning and understanding.
* Organize practical sessions where trainees can apply their knowledge and practice using rail flaw detection equipment and tools.
* Provide demonstrations and hands-on guidance to ensure trainees can effectively identify and assess flaws in railway tracks.
* Enforce standards for student academic performance and behavior, including counseling of students as required.
* Communicate with the Global Training Manager on overall progress and direction of trainees.
* Champion the company culture and the desire for all trainees to succeed.
* Front line promotion of the excellent work provided by Sperry and its testers.
* Administration of qualification and safety examinations.
* Maintain training facilities and equipment in good order.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements, technologies, and regulations in rail flaw detection. Field Visits: * Coordinate with field personnel to evaluate trainers and trainees during field visits.
* Evaluate trainees for promotion based on job requirements and training metrics.
* Process paperwork for trainee promotion to Chief Operator.
* Ensure field training is maintained to an acceptable standard.
* Ensure training curriculum for field training is adhered to and aligned with Sperry procedural standards. International instruction: * Travel to international clients to provide in person theoretical training.
* Work with international business development to provide necessary support for international system sales.
* Coordination with international clients on client needs, tailoring of training programs to fit the specific client desires. Producing Training Material: * Develop additional training material as requested by the Global Training Manager.
* Develop slide decks, videos, and additional material as called for by the training needs.
* Become proficient in the use of the Sperry's LMS.
* Upload and monitor training materials on Sperry's LMS. Qualifications -- Must Haves: * ASNT Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing
* 2-3 year experience as a Certified Chief Operator with applied testing experience, practical experience in ultrasonic and electromagnetic testing.
* Invested interest and availability to mentor candidates outside of class to ensure best opportunity to successful complete Sperry's academic standards.
* Advanced ability to create materials in MS Word, MS Powerpoint and/or Learning Management Systems.
* Ability to pass all required background checks and meet other requisite criteria to access railway networks. Qualifications -- Desirable: * Technical training experience, classroom and hands-on instruction..
