Role Mission: The Technical Trainer plays a pivotal role in the successful implementation, adoption and utilization of key enterprise systems and instructional applications at IDEA. They are responsible for designing and delivering effective professional development to a variety of audiences. This role is both a teacher and a teacher of teachers – presciently assessing demand across all areas of the organization to maximize impact of technical support resources and training. Additionally, this role is required to maintain an expertise in key enterprise applications.

 

This is a full-time national position that supports all five states (Texas/Louisiana/Florida/Ohio).  Preference given to candidates who live in Texas, or who are willing to relocate. Monthly travel is required, the position will be a combination of remote and on-site work. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology is part of the broader Technology Operations team which supports the organization on a national level.

Accountabilities:

 

Design and deliver technical training that aligns with demand around instructional software applications and hardware.

Develop resources in collaboration with Program Stakeholders, Information Systems, IT and Technology Operations team members. Resources may include courses, training materials, Help Center guides, etc.  Remain current in the field of educational technology, instructional media production design, and emerging technologies, and update technical skills to adapt to changing technologies.  Work closely with academic program leaders, curriculum managers, and instructional leaders to develop and in-depth understanding of their team and objectives to support the continued enhancement and adoption of innovative technology and other technology-related curriculum and instruction. Implement best-in-class training methodologies to reach a broad audience with varying levels of comfort with technology.Operationalize continuous improvement through iterative updates based on participant feedback.

 

Holds self and team accountable to the highest expectations of customer service and knowledge management

·           Act as the steward and quality assurance of all Instructional Technology training and support resources, championing the adoption of knowledge management standards across departments.

·           Apply technical writing skills to compose support documentation and ensure Help Center articles are updated and maintained on a cyclical basis.

·           Synthesize feedback from multiple channels to identify resource gaps, improve service, training, and support documentation.

Champion the use of instructional technology central to achievement in IDEA’s Pre-K-12 curriculum, national, state, and local standards

Ensure staff receive the technical training and support resources necessary to utilize enterprise technology equipment and systems relevant to their role.Monitor campus instructional technology use closely to proactively identify obstacles to adoption and document business use cases.Act as the voice of the campus during strategy conversations.Promote and enforce data privacy and security best practices to minimize risk of data loss, student data access, and improper use.Collect and analyze learner feedback from multiple channels to improve end user experience and maximize return on enterprise technology investments.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in liberal arts1 or more certification relevant to role preferred (Change Management Foundation, Microsoft Innovation Educator (MIE), Microsoft Certified Trainer, CTT+)

Experience: 

Minimum 3 years training in the education or information technology industryK-12 Teaching experience strongly preferredInstructional design and content creation experience using Microsoft applications, Adobe Professional Suite, SharePoint, video editing, and screen capture software

Knowledge and Skills:

Bilingual (English and strong proficiency in Spanish) preferredExceptional technical writing, presentation, and oral communication skillsTraining design methodologies such as ADDIE or Design ThinkingAbility to design and deliver eLearning, instructor-led and blended learning curriculumSuperior written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to listen carefully and to communicate effectively within a diverse environmentAble to quickly learn new systems and techniquesDemonstrated time management and critical thinking skills with an eye on continuous improvement.

95% average on-time SLA completion rate of support tickets is achieved.95% average customer satisfaction is achieved. 95% of IDEA Texas staff and students’ instructional technology devices are distributed to campuses and available for use for each region’s first day of school.95% of instructional staff and students utilize Clever to access instructional applications.Published technical training programs meet or exceed an average Net Promotor Score (NPS) of 60.
