Position Overview
The Technical Training Specialist leads the project management and design of ad-hoc training for updated or new processes through subject matter and training expertise. They are considered expert trainers in various test systems and technologies and are knowledgeable of the cross functional nature of Exact Sciences. They assist other trainers, execute on specialized training as needed, and lead ad-hoc training. This role supports Exact Sciences Laboratories through subject matter, change-management, mentorship, and training expertise to ensure training solutions honor the complexity of cross-functional workflows and processes. Lastly, this role utilizes their training and mentorship skills to develop technical training expertise across the enterprise.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead the needs assessment, intake, design, development, and delivery of training programs related to new tests and to changes in workflow, software, systems (hardware, software, and assay), and operational changes. In some cases, leadership may be external (e.g. LPM) but core duties of design, development, and delivery may remain.Partner closely with operational leaders and cross-functional leadership to diagnose training needs, identify training gaps, and propose/develop/deploy training solutions.Utilize strong change management skills to isolate training needs within a broader change.Identify training scope and propose communication and training plans that support change adoption.Identify training trends and needs by assessing overall status the quality of training, employee needs, and business needs either directly or through feedback (e.g. surveys) of learners and particularly from the lab customer (e.g. lab trainers, lab leaders).Deliver training through in-person training, virtual training, hands-on/on-the-job training, and other modalities, as needed.Help develop the training expertise, behavior, mindsets, and skillsets of team members.Periodically perform laboratory analytical or pre-analytical work in clinical or non-clinical laboratory settings.Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.Continually learn, improve, and apply new training skills.Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.Maintain regular and reliable attendance.Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.Ability to work designated schedule.Ability to work nights and/or weekends(,as needed).Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.Ability to use a telephone through a headset.Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment; including microscopes, microtomes, blades, strainers, and pipettes for extended periods of time.May perform repetitious actions using lab tools.Ability to use near vision to view samples at close range.May be exposed to hazardous materials, tissue specimens, and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.Scheduling requirements:Ability to work designated schedule.Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree and 2 YOE or High School Diploma or General Education.6+ years of professional experience related to the essential duties of the position.Advanced understanding of instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, technical, and/or hands-on/on-the-job training.Skilled in using technology tools and platforms to plan, run, and troubleshoot applications during the delivery and facilitation of virtual classrooms.Demonstrated understanding of working in a laboratory or similar environment with professional working knowledge of HIPAA, GLP, GDP, and laboratory terminology and equipment.Demonstrated ability to design ad hoc training solutions in response to business needs/changes leading all parts of the process; including, but not limited to, needs assessment, training intake, development, communication, change management, and delivery.Strong computer skills to include Internet navigation, use of virtual meeting tools, email usage, word processing, and data/records management.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, display excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build solid working relationships with peers at all levels of the organization and maintain a high degree of approachability with all levels.Display excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to lead and motivate others, even when not in a position of authority, ability to adapt to changing workload and circumstances effectively, ability to quickly respond to and understand new information.Display excellent time management and ability to remain focused when working independently.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of lab experience/lab-education program experience in a lab providing high complexity testing.1+ years of experience in a mentorship role or directly/indirectly leading others.Possession of and ability to maintain ASCP Certification or state licensure that has been determined to be equivalent, and other certifications related to adult education and training and/or project management and instructional design.Experience in diagnostic testing technologies including NGS, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and immunoassays and/or pre-analytic and post-analytic steps in diagnostic workflowsDevelopment and deployment of adult/professional training programs.Proficient in software related to instructional design and/or training environments.#LI-VZ1Salary Range:
$60,000.00 - $97,000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
