Technical Writer
**Position Summary:** Under minimal supervision, creates text and images to create technical publications including but not limited to: parts manuals, service bulletins, assembly instructions, and service manuals for AGTX products. Updates or revises existing manuals and technical documents in accordance with Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) and other instructions as required. Creates and updates product decals for engineering. **Essential Functions of the Job:** 1. Utilizes Solid Works and Solid Works Composer to images for technical documents. 2. Creates new manuals using current Solid Works techniques and Adobe tools. 3. Completes ECN directed changes and updates to existing manuals utilizing various computer graphics packages such as SolidWorks and Adobe Professional Suite. Determines which methods/tools to use and consults with engineers for validity of information. 4. Prepares text for operator’s safety, operation, maintenance, and assembly and service instructions. 5. Responsible for accuracy and updating corrections and/or revisions as needed with company manuals. 6. Communicate with Corporate Safety in maintaining the safety sections of our product manuals. 7. Maintains archive(s) of manuals. Reviews modifications to archived/existing manuals. 8. Coordinate with assembly personnel and engineering to create work instructions, installation manuals, and technical service documents. 9. Observes and operates actual equipment for thorough knowledge and understanding in order to perform technical writer duties. 10. Observes and investigates production processes to gain knowledge and understanding in order to perform technical writer duties. 11. Maintains files for all drawings, illustrations, manuals and parts listings in proper sequence and date order. Performs proper Product Document Management practices as determined by engineering. 12. Creates and assists in the creation of video or animated technical documentation. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):** 1. Experience with Microsoft software and database programs. 2. Experience in CAD preferably SolidWorks, Solidworks Composer, and Autocad 3. Experience with graphics programs , preferably Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. 4. Familiar with design layouts, assembly drawings and/or component part drawings. 5. Knowledge of mowing/agricultural implements preferred. 6. Excellent mechanical aptitude and understanding. 7. Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and remote Teams. Use Smartsheet and Teams to communicate project schedules. 8. Able to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, work under pressure. Work overtime as needed to complete assignments. 9. Ability to determine required parts and assemblies by review of Bills of Materials. 10. Ability to determine required parts, assemblies, and assembly procedures by review of assembled units in production. 11. Must work with, communicate, and cooperate with assemblers on floor to accurately document completed equipment assemblies. **Education and Experience:** 1. High school diploma or GED certificate required. Associates degree from college or technical school preferred. 2. Education/training in technical writing preferred. 3. Two years previous experience in Technical Publications with increasing levels of responsibility. **Working Conditions:** 1. Frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Standard office environment. Occasional walking in and around manufacturing plant to observe products and assist with physical inventory. 2.
