Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Editor/Technical Writer to join our dynamic team in Rockville, MD, supporting Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). The successful candidate will be responsible for authoring and editing technical documents and procedures manuals, querying subject matter experts for technical information, and managing the production and distribution of documentation. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work under general direction to meet Navy documentation specifications.
ResponsibilitiesAuthor and edit technical documentation.Query subject matter experts to extract technical information.Assist in printing, assembling, packaging, and distributing both paper and electronic documentation packages.Convert paper documentation into electronic media.Coordinate production and distribution schedules.Manage various production tasks, including printing, assembling, and packaging documentation.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is highly preferred.Strong technical writing and editing skills, including grammar proficiency.Experience with documentation/word processing systems such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.Ability to work with Engineering Technologists and Subject Matter Experts to produce documentation changes.Possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Arbortext, Vulcan, or QuickSilver is a plus.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate with all staff levels and departments.Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities.Experience in editing documents and presentations for content, relevance, clarity, persuasiveness, comprehensiveness, and spelling/grammatical errors.Work Environment
Engineering-heavy environment with a state-of-the-art Digital Engineering lab. The role involves working closely with a large team of engineers and technologists in a dynamic setting to support the Strategic Systems Program (SSP).
