Technical Writer
**Purpose and Scope:** Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs and related technical and administrative publications. Text is concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment. **Essential Responsibilities:** + Prepares or contributes text, in clear and concise language, to be incorporated in technical publications, notes, manuals, and related technical information concerned with the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic, mechanical and other equipment. + Writes and edits project schedules, hardware/software reference guides, user’s manuals, reports and other technical literature. + Reviews manufacturer’s and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance and service of equipment. + Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. May assist in laying out material for publication. + Maintains records and files of work and revisions. + Perform duties as an alternate Flight Attendant as required. + Performs related work as required. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:** + Associates Degree or equivalent formal academic or vocational training in technical writing, technical journalism, technical communications, English or a related field. + Three (3) or more years of directly related technical writing experience. Technical writing related to aviation, aircraft manufacture and Federal Aviation publications highly desired. + Must possess the ability and skill to write, edit, and prepare clear, concise, and acceptable scientific, technical and management documentation for publication or production, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with contract personnel. + Qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver’s license. **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:** The work is mostly sedentary, however, some walking, stooping and pushing is required. The physical characteristics of this position require the strength, dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 pounds in order to retrieve passenger luggage and to open and close the cabin doors on Company operated aircraft while performing Flight Attendant duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Flight Attendant duties are generally performed both indoors in an office setting and an aircraft cabin. May on occasion be exposed to an inclement weather environment and be subjected to periods of moderate noise situations. **Other Responsibilities:** Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
