Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer and Editor to review and enhance technical engineering documentation. The ideal candidate will produce high-quality technical and scientific illustrations, ensuring documents adhere to style guides and customer requirements. This role involves creating documentation for both internal and external publication, writing technical articles, integrating various media, and coordinating production. Responsibilities also include proofreading and editing to meet DoD standards, assisting content providers, and overseeing the preparation of illustrative materials.
ResponsibilitiesReview content of technical engineering documentation for quality.Produce technical engineering and scientific illustrations for presentations and publications.Ensure documents follow the style guide or customer guidance.Create documents for internal and external publication with input from team members, stakeholders, and research sources.Write various technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals.Integrate graphics, text, and other media to create presentations and publications.Coordinate production of technical documents.Proofread and edit correspondence, documents, memoranda, presentations, and other materials to conform to DoD spelling, grammar, and style standards.Assist content providers in identifying the appropriate medium and format for presentations and publications.Ensure content is of high quality and conforms to standards.Oversee preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.Conduct quality reviews of materials.Produce, proofread, edit, and format technical documentation, including design specifications, manuals, online help, procedures, plans, and proposals.Edit and format information for various media channels, including printed materials, scripted voice content, email, websites, and other electronic access points.Gather information, interview subject matter experts, and conduct research to convey technical material concisely and effectively.Essential SkillsExperience with engineering and technical documentation.Proficiency in creating illustrative materials.BA/BS in English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, Web Design, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of relevant experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior editing experience with DoD or government agencies preferred.Work Environment
This position is based at Kirtland AFB. The work environment is supportive, with a stable company known for its good reputation. The role offers full PTO and benefits, supporting a well-known contract in NM.
