Technical Writer/Editor

ICF is currently seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to work on the OTIP/ORR Mission Support Project.  The purpose of this project is to provide support to OTIP and ORR in meeting their mission goals.  This support covers a variety of activities across multiple divisions within each federal program.

The Technical Writer/Editor will use his/her expertise to write and edit technical documents, conduct research, and data support for inquiry responses, and consider plain language and 508 compliance standards as part of deliverable production. 

The purpose of the Mission Support Project is to provide technical, acquisition, program management, administrative, and business support services to ORR and OTIP in order to meet ACF mission requirements.

The successful candidate will have broad experience in writing multiple document types for varied stakeholders.  The Technical Writer/Editor will report to a divisional or bureau lead for supervision and assignments.

Positions will be fully remote, onsite embedded in the client site, and hybrid.

Key Responsibilities: 

ORR/OTIP Technical writer/editor responsibilities include:

Writing and/or editing technical documents including reports, briefings, presentation materials, and other deliverables as assigned.Conducting research as needed, consulting relevant information sources, and collecting relevant data needed to develop content.  This may include working with subject matter experts and other project team members as needed.Stay up to date on relevant legislation, regulations, and agency policy to ensure writing assignments are aligned to federal requirement.Developing deliverable schedules, concept summaries, and outlines for review with federal staff as part of the product development cycle.Writing and/or editing draft responses to requests for information, technical assistance, and guidance from a variety of sources including the public, grant recipients, and non-governmental organization, and government entities.Demonstrate the capability to ensure deliverables are 508 compliant, if required, and the standards in the Plain Writing Act of 2010. Develop and maintain working relationships with team members. 

Basic Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing written content.Minimum of 1 year of writing experience related to migrant and refugee issues/policy.6 months to 1 year of 508 compliance and Plain Writing requirements.

Preferred Skills: 

Master’s degree in social work, public administration, English, or related field.  Experience developing and delivering content related to refugee or migration issues. Experience developing learning experiences on federal contracts. Knowledge of adult learning principles and other theories of learning.

High quality control skills with superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines.Ability to promote and contribute to an equitable and inclusive organizational culture and environment.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment. Strong team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently.Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience with developing and delivering presentations, writing, and blogging social media content.Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$80,743.00 - $137,263.00
