ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. Join our growing team as a Technical Publications Editor/Writer Level 3 in support of the FAA’s ASR-8/ASR-11 Terminal Surveillance Team (AJW-1433). The team is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK, and provides second level engineering support for ASR-8 and ASR-11 RADAR hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment. Receives assignments from a supervisor, observes production, and participates in developmental and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail. Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods and reviews manufacturer and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Studies sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail, organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology; and reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. Maintains records and files of work and revisions; selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material; assists in laying out material for publication; arranges for duplication and distribution of material; edits, standardizes, and makes changes to material prepared by other writers or personnel, and may specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures. Must be able to prepare documents with automated document and drawing products including Microsoft Word and Visio, Adobe Acrobat, configuration management applications, and provide electronic publication delivery. Must be able to use advance techniques including styles, templates, book features, and assist the Quality Assurance/Process Improvement staff with the development of guidance for quality improvement purposes. Receives assignment from the supervisor to perform the following tasks: LEMs (Logging Equipment Modification) support by determining sites that will be affected by a documentation change/modification and then opening a record for each of those sites; Supporting RMLS (Remote Monitoring & Logging System) by analyzing changes/updates/additions/deletions for maintenance schedules in maintenance handbooks and providing input to update periodic maintenance activities for affected equipment in the field, responding to field calls relating to changes in maintenance schedules, assisting with process changes, providing support to outside organizations, and maintaining status of documentation packages; Update DIS (Directives Information System) and FAA Orders and Notices website; Provide numbering support for notices, maintenance handbooks, and other documents; updating documents/processes and ensure current information is available on the NUDGE (New User Documentation Guide & Examples) website; Update documentation templates with current information; Distribute CD containing maintenance handbook information to the field and other users; Provide monthly report on printing costs to the FAA, and assist others with documentation printing issues; Support SRM (Safety Risk Management) by reviewing SRM decision memos and documents, verifying each documentation package has the appropriate SRM information, and providing SRM assistance and training; Providing data to produce videos for training/informational purposes; Respond to field requests for prints; Provide handbook validation for Directives Management Office (DMO); Assist with website updates and verification of current website information; Review LOAs (Letters of Authorization), coordinate field concurrence, enter LEM for modifications, set up accounts for new personnel in appropriate databases, and provide LOA assistance and training; Provide WebCM (Web Configuration Management) assistance for the second-level engineering group, and review casefiles for AJW-14 and process for approval; Update the Publishers Check List (PCL) with requirements for completing the documentation process and ensure current PCL is posted on NUDGE; Provide documentation training for publishers and new users; Update and maintain the “frequently asked questions” and release notes for Software Change Manager and Database Management System and ensure the information is posted on the appropriate websites; Ensure current and accurate desk guides for FSEP (Facility, Service, Equipment Profile) and NAPRS (National Airspace Performance Reporting System) are processed accordingly and added to the proper repository and databases and made available on the NAS Technical Library; Respond to requests from the Technical Documentation Mailbox for print requests, suggested changes, and inquiries from international offices.
