Leads the creation, revision, and editing of technical documentation for the EDAT program, which integrates IT systems for the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). This role demands a high level of expertise and collaboration with technical teams to produce clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation tailored for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
Leadership in Documentation Development:
Lead the creation, revision, and editing of various technical documents, including comprehensive product guides, technical implementation guides, and user manuals.
Ensure that all documentation effectively communicates complex technical information and adheres to established standards of clarity and accuracy.
Collaboration with Technical Teams:
Collaborate directly with software, system, and product developers to gather in-depth subject knowledge and insights necessary for producing high-quality documentation.
Conduct technical research and analysis to enhance documentation quality and relevance.
Oversight of Visual Materials:
Supervise the development of visual materials such as diagrams, charts, and illustrations to support technical documents.
Oversee quality reviews of visual materials to ensure they meet high standards of accuracy and enhance the overall effectiveness of the documentation.
Cataloging and Archival Management:
Drive the development and maintenance of cataloging systems and archival records to ensure the efficient organization, retrieval, and updating of technical publications.
Establish and implement processes for maintaining accurate records of all documentation.
Strategic Recommendations for Documentation:
Provide strategic recommendations on the effective use of layouts, graphics, and visual aids to optimize the presentation and impact of technical documents.
Continuously assess and implement best practices in technical writing and documentation design.
Quality Assurance and Process Improvement:
Conduct thorough quality reviews of all technical documentation to ensure compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the documentation workflow and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
10 years of experience in technical writing or documentation, preferably in a technology or IT environment.Proven expertise in creating comprehensive technical documents and leading documentation projects.Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to convey complex technical information to various audiences.
Proficiency in documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, MadCap Flare, etc.).
Advanced graphic design skills for creating effective visual aids are highly desirable.
